The early Stig from Top Gear died in a horrible accident when he attemted the stunt of a lifetime. Here is a little tribute the Top Gear team put together for him.

    • There is no way he is dead...

      the family of him and the directors of the channel would not let them make jokes about his death, when it clearly happened whilst shooting the show. But it was a good way to let him go and bring in some new skills.

    you can see it was staged. no show will ever take that chance. and by the way. why did nobody go into the water after him and why was there no resque crew there... it was a stunt after all so there will be people standing by if something goes wrong

    look at the start of the run he is using a very normal car then look as the car goes over the side of the boat. it has a massive hole in the back and as it goes over that is co2 gas no one was in the car it was shot off the end using a co2 gun later seen in a later top gear episode when they play darts with cars. also we all now who the old stig was it was reveled in his autobiography. man r u all stupid or what

    I HATE this show. this was totaly sick! and undespicable! i used to love that show! but it was like it was a matter of changing tires for them! they've passed it on like it was a dead squirll or something! totally sick!

      how can you hate top gear your obviously a minority group because top gear on average it atracts more more viewers than any other show on the bbc. besides what makes it sick. i have a channel if you had half a brain cell you'll leave comment in the next week explaining this idiocy.

  • They could put a fat Surry housewife

    in as their test driver and it would be just as exciting. What would have been exciting was if they had put Clarksons fat ass straped to the grill of the jag. They shot it off the deck of that tiny carrier using it's steam catapult,which the steam was clearly visible at launch,into 4 mile deep water and replaced him with Mr. Bean. That would have been good.Did I mention they should chum the waters to make sure there were plenty of sharks in the area?

  • It's true

    The guys from Mclaren at Woking let the cat out of the bag that the old stig was Damon Hill. Damon lives just round the corner from dunsfold airfield where top gear is filmed. It was when mclaren took the SLR to test it there. One of the top mechanics who went that day told me and he's in the audience when clarkson was talking about the car.
    The new stig is Martin brundle ex F1 driver.
