While it would be great to have in an emergency, don't you think you'd get tired of houseguests asking about it? "Oh hey, you showed me the whole apartment except this room. What's behind this door?" "Oh, that's not really a door, etc. etc."

when your up in the 100th floor the wind is going to be knocking you around, plus most skyscrapers don't have wide enough windows to fit through when you get the the high up windows....well I guess it's better then trying to S**k the air out of the area in your toliet that has an air pocket

how long is the cable? if were in one of the world trade centers (as displayed in the video) would the cable reach the ground? does it include rope cutters to get free if necessary?

i think it is an ingenious idea. although i see one problem. im assuming that the door cannot be opened from the outside while it is being used as an escape system. however firefighters are trained to break a door down if they can't open it.

there you have it. it seems that it could also be a fatal invention.

if this equipment were used in 9/11 event, i wonder how long would it take for the victims to go down to the first floor be4 the building collapse :))

firefighters have been known to brake the door open if its stuck. what happens then?

its maybe work in below 10 floor building. What if you are at 30+ floor? can u imagine? i bet u`ll wet your pant. only well trained people can do that.

an erthquake takes a bout 30 seconds witch is to fast escape with this
if someone brakes in you hause he can escape easely
a terorist atack is not going to hape in your apartment only the buldings of the state are going to be atacked

It's nice to see new products like these being developed to save lives in dangerous situations. Kudos to the inventors and developers.

the idea is very intellegent and it assures the escape safety,but what happens if the fire is from beneath and is by lowering the risk factor increases??

what happens if someone opens the door while you're using it? and if there's fire wouldn't the rope and the door burn?

Why is it made out of legos or some childs toy ? Also would not make a difference during 9-11 , because the whole buildings came down.

See I would just always keep a parachute in my office or apartment. In a crowded room when the fire's right at the door and theres only one double exit I would imagine people would start to fight each other over who goes next. I suppose it would serve as a good distraction while I put on my chute and jump out the window.

its a steel cable it cannot catch on fire, or if the fire was hot enough to melt it the hole door would fall out of the wall or what ever was left of the wall.

you cant. but if you would listen there is this AXE included in the kit to handle that problem.

And you had like over a few dozen people at the penthouse is the winch retractable? Can you crank it back up for additional people? What if the seat does not fit a fat person or a real skinny one?

What keeps the tension on the rope? If it is battery powered what happens if the battery dies?
