New escape system
Won't work if there's a sniper though :(
By Xiakanahan 1182672228You just have to order the accessory "semiautomatic rifle" so you can pick the sniper off before he hits you :)
By The Pool Guy 1182698404if there was someone being lowered from EVERY window on every floor in a high rise?
By doctorgary34 1182692850You'll get fried. Also you'd better make sure the door hinges and latch are strong.
By levelthreeninja 1183569959"double exit system was developed according to the most stringent safety standards"
what about when the door cover pops open? what if i'm there making love and it knocks out my lover?
now i can get knocked out in da face by the hatch that flings out of the door when im near it
By Mach Daddy 1182519672Can you imagine that product beeing sold in countries like Spain, Sweeden, Australia, Chile, ...
While it would be great to have in an emergency, don't you think you'd get tired of houseguests asking about it? "Oh hey, you showed me the whole apartment except this room. What's behind this door?" "Oh, that's not really a door, etc. etc."
its a door.. read the name again! double exit! lol in the first half you see the guy walk thro the door! so its not just some door in the middle of nowere...
By Predator04 1182668825when your up in the 100th floor the wind is going to be knocking you around, plus most skyscrapers don't have wide enough windows to fit through when you get the the high up windows....well I guess it's better then trying to S**k the air out of the area in your toliet that has an air pocket
By @bhobo 1186188747when the door starts burning before you reach the ground.... ouch...
better to install this system at or in the wall.
how long is the cable? if were in one of the world trade centers (as displayed in the video) would the cable reach the ground? does it include rope cutters to get free if necessary?
By questioning101 1184888838americans are always afraid of THAT, right
By superMariovp 1183947134i think it is an ingenious idea. although i see one problem. im assuming that the door cannot be opened from the outside while it is being used as an escape system. however firefighters are trained to break a door down if they can't open it.
there you have it. it seems that it could also be a fatal invention.
ok think about that. it is used exclusively on high floors in tall buildings, and it activates at the first sign of trouble. the fire fighters won't even be at the buildin yet, and they wont be able to get up to you for a long time. that is the whole reason the systm exists
By Pressurepoint 1183670913if this equipment were used in 9/11 event, i wonder how long would it take for the victims to go down to the first floor be4 the building collapse :))
By dud2 1183203754firefighters have been known to brake the door open if its stuck. what happens then?
By comment 1183173497someone like a firefighter opens the door wile the door is in use
By comment 1183173190how is this goin to save ur life from a terrorist attack!!!!!or a earthquake this thing is soooooooo slow, you would be dead by the time u put on the thing
By Eddie07 1183127502??? it seems like a fake commercial that would be on snl...
By inventinator 1183087914If that exists, which is the price ? It's for rich people, of course !
And those which are not rich enough can die ?
if you can afford to live that high in a building like that then you can afford on of these
By Pressurepoint 1183671050think about it before you speak!! but head
it runs for about. $9,000 for the door mounted unit or abour $5000 for the wall mounted version. so after the absolute minimum of say $500,000 that you would pay to buy an apartment like that the cost of the unit is chump change. i am sick of this S**t there is no conspiracy to screw the working class, it costs a lot to buy because it costs a lot to make. not to mention the millions that were spent on development and testing.
By Pressurepoint 1184010465although, i think it would have been better if you would have posted the price to begin with
By techieAJ 1184014268i doubt that wood have rescued most people in the twin tower accident
By Glennerd_lfc 1182970760its maybe work in below 10 floor building. What if you are at 30+ floor? can u imagine? i bet u`ll wet your pant. only well trained people can do that.
By cefiro RB26Dett 1182970432it is for use exclusivly in tall buildings. that is what the word hi-rise means. and no 10 floors is not a hi-rise
By Pressurepoint 1183671191this is of no useif the whole damn building is crumbling down!
By TurkeyTaco 1182896012firt of all if the fire is below you you cant get down or you will burn
an erthquake takes a bout 30 seconds witch is to fast escape with this
if someone brakes in you hause he can escape easely
a terorist atack is not going to hape in your apartment only the buldings of the state are going to be atacked
how many times does this have to be repaeted?
By techieAJ 1184006875i was thinking of putting parachutes in each room at a building
By apexi957 1182788901It's nice to see new products like these being developed to save lives in dangerous situations. Kudos to the inventors and developers.
By HouseholdTech 1182735811the idea is very intellegent and it assures the escape safety, but what happens if the fire is from beneath and is by lowering the risk factor increases??
By prince_73 1182707123what happens if someone opens the door while you're using it? and if there's fire wouldn't the rope and the door burn?
they said the rope is fire resistant, so i would guess they would be smart enough to make the door fire resistant also. plus, if the door opens, that would only make you descend another few feet further, but the pulley wouldn't fall off. you would still be attached to the door and the hinges
By skullzrus11 1182691833looks like he's done this before...u can have it only the balcony too dumfucks!!!
By aztruckin09 1182676443great idea! but good for 150 pounds/ 300kg? :) so good for securtiy?
By Wofli 1182669137it's 150 kgnot 150 pounds. they said it can hold one large adult or 2 adults or one adult and 2 children
By skullzrus11 1182691688Why is it made out of legos or some childs toy ? Also would not make a difference during 9-11 , because the whole buildings came down.
By KK1939 1182610021See I would just always keep a parachute in my office or apartment. In a crowded room when the fire's right at the door and theres only one double exit I would imagine people would start to fight each other over who goes next. I suppose it would serve as a good distraction while I put on my chute and jump out the window.
By heywhatsup65 1182572925don't you have to be pretty high up for a parachute to work? i don't think it would work under 10 stories.
By kelley42 1182739942Surprised visits from mother-in-laws.
By WhenNatureCalls 1182565294and it is good as a muder weapon fake a fire and as the people are going down cut the wire w/ wire cutters
By omega one 1182564685its funny how people think too hard to make money
By thats not funny 1182560353to go on a coffe break to the neighbour few stories below and be cool
By Keymaker20 1182527961asked questions>? 1.what if the rope catches on fire?
its a steel cable it cannot catch on fire, or if the fire was hot enough to melt it the hole door would fall out of the wall or what ever was left of the wall.
2. how do you open a window on the world trade center?
you cant. but if you would listen there is this AXE included in the kit to handle that problem.
any more qustions??!!???
what if theres multiple ppl?
after it unreels from the yellow wheel it is one long cable. as the 2 person goes down the 1 persons harness travles back up to the floor its installed on!
so leave the harness connected!!
any more???!?
how do u open a window on that type of building
By comment 1183174157And you had like over a few dozen people at the penthouse is the winch retractable? Can you crank it back up for additional people? What if the seat does not fit a fat person or a real skinny one?
What keeps the tension on the rope? If it is battery powered what happens if the battery dies?
i would just use a parachute, atleast then u get to do something fun before u die!
By olz =) 1182596125whoever came up with this idea is now probably a millionaire!!
