    Comparing Belgium beer to Dutch beer to American Beer is a hard thing to do. There are great beers everywhere! It is a matter of taste. Like wine, people like different tastes, different brands, different people. Stop fighting like children. The ad is good! Who cares if you think the beer is good or bad. Move on.

    In Belgium we hate heineken because it gives beer a bad name. It tastes like belgium beer mixed with water.
    Actually when they serve you beer in holland it is mixed with water (cheap basterds)

    And for the ones who think it is expensive. hahahah maybe where you live.Here it is cheaper then cola

    Grolsch (dutch) and Stella Artrois (belgian) are probably the 2 best lagers in the world. They're expensive ones too, but worth it. Heineken isn't too great, definately not as good at Grolsh and Stella. American beers like budweiser and Coors are pretty pissy, I don't even know an aussie beer since my aussie mates tell me Fosters isn't aussie and then they name things ive never heard of; but Fosters is pissy too. Carlsberg (danish) is not too bad.
    I'm not including English beers in this. English lagers are just cheap and nasty for the most part, TEA (traditional english ale) depends on the local brewery, for bitters I'd say John Smiths and Badgers are probably 2 of the best. John Smiths is my favourite.

    The belgians and dutch are always at eachother's necks comparing their beer and chocolate, but its a bit silly since both countries produce the best beer and the best chocolate in the world. (gotta say Grolsch is my favourite lager though)

    Having said that, I've been on a tour of my local brewery and all lagers are the same and all bitters are the same until casking. (They are all made together and only separated at the very end, don't believe crap about special recipies etc.) The difference is that things like Grolsh have the yeast left in for a few weeks before being removed, ale never has the yeast removed etc.

      stella, grolsch and heineken are all pilsners. which are alot different than lagers. yuengling is one of the best american lagers. red stripe is actually a really good lager.

      belgians are amazing beers. you cant really compare a belgian to anything other than themselves.

      best brewery in the world is Dogfish Head.

      i know lots about beer, im quite a beer fan. i drink a lot of it, know what's good (to my tastes) ive been to breweries and drunk all sorts of beers.

      Although I didn't know they weren't lagers. how come they say "lager" on the side of the bottle/can then? so when i thought amerian beers were really pissy lager, they're really jsut what all lager is and the good "lager"s aren't lager at all? thanks for the info.

      all beer that you will get in pubs and bars is made in your local brewery, even import/export stuff. The difference between "export"(e.g. "Carlsberg Export") and normal lagers (in the UK at least) is that normal lagers are at 3.5% vol, export are at 5%.

      And don't believe the heineken advert that goes on about "brewed in sideways tanks, not upwards" it is totally dependant on whatever setup the local brewery has and doesn't really have any effect on the beer.

    You are so right Thorgal. I'm Belgian and it really hurts my soul to see all the foreign people like Heineken. Any Belgian beer tastes 10x better then any Dutch beer. People who think the opposite don't know anything about it. I prefer a good dark beer myself. Still it's a nice add, but it would never persuave me to drink that crap!

    Heineken has a very sweet flavour. A lager is supposed to taste bitter.
    The dutch are very good marketeers. Maybe even the best in the world.
    They actually managed to sell a beer that taste like dogpiss worldwide while their neigbouring country in the south is the number one beer country. Many people in the world are being fooled thinking they are drinking very good imported beer while in fact it is quite the opposite.
    Is there anyone who likes this beer??

      if you havent tried all of Dogfish Head's beers, then you cant say a damn thing about american beer. Check who's won best IPA over the past few years. their 90 minute IPA is a masterpiece beer.
