I always wondered where herbie was now and it turns out he's a goth, actually i can't say im surprised.

Ok Redneck or rubberneck. What ever your name is!! The pipe sticking out the back is called a stinger. It is just like straight pipes on any other car. I had one one my 70 VW Bus.

That bug is really suped up. It is not like the bug your parents gave you or your stoner buddy had. It has a bored out block, I bigger cam, Dual Carbs and so on and so on. It is more or less a beefed up porche engine. Also i dont think that Mustang is suped up at all. I looks stock witch would make that a no contest race. The bug has slicks on it. Its for real in every way. Plus i think the driver in the Stang sucked.

Just keep in minf that if you beef up anything enuff it can be really fast. It comes down to one thing! Weight to horse power!

You can tell from the multitude of my submitted videos that never make it past initial rating, I have an unnatural obsession with watching young, tight, muscular boys ride their bicycles. I really enjoy the way they pull on their handle bars.

That baby is no where near stock. I have seen picture of some of the Dyno Don customs tube frames and up displacement 2000cc engine. I have heard you can up them to 2750. Throw dual 400cfm weber and rework the engine to about 200hp.

First and foremost the video is real. That car later on w/ a turbo motor would hit high 9's. The car is nothing radical it isn't mid mount, the motor is in the stock location. That is a stinger(straight pipe) hanging out the back not a wheelie bar. To those of you saying that an 11.92 isn't that impressive. First off it's an N/A 2.3 VW motor. To the best of my knowledge while it is a race motor it isn't set on kill or anything and was built with mostly off the shelf parts. Running 11's like for the price of less than a honda civic is a big deal. Especially when it's an N/A carbureted motor. In addition the car has more potential look at how the suspension loads and unloads with some suspension mods the et would drop another tenth or two. To the guy saying it's ugly. I dont know if you watched the video but its a drag race. It isn't a car show it's not about whats pretty and whats ugly its about what can get to the end of the strip quicker.

Used to race with a vw with a suped up porche engine till my ex husband was stupid an raced when it was still cold and screwed up the engine (as you can tell he wasnt much into the know how of cars) won a lot of races with it till then. God I miss that car.

Paladin is right, here in the US 11 sec cars are just in the ball game for a fast car. Ive worked in the high performance automobile industry for 4 years, put it like this....most of the cars we worked on came to us running 11s, they wanted to see deep 10s or even some single digits. These days, if you aren't running 11s or better, you aren't even in the game.

While I'm sure that this VW beetle is a fast little bugger (pun intended), it does look like that mustang stalled or otherwise blew it at the starting line. I began to doubt the reality of the video when I couldn't see the mustang anywhere on the track when the camera pans left from the beetle at the finish line back to the starting line. If you pause and slowly advance the clip, you can see a red blur that is the mustang whizzing by at one point.
The fact that the mustang is so relatively close to Herbie at the finish line after such an awful start tends to make me think that although this was a neat clip, perhaps the bug won as a fluke? Who knows for sure, I guess.

Looks real to me guys. I can still remember a guy named Peter Keegan driving a blown VW, who consistanrly pulled mid tens at Caslereagh dragstrip in Sydney Australia.

This is very real,.i,ve owned 3 different bugs in my life. My 2nd was a 73 super beetle ...2180cc, 10.5 to 1 compression, dual 48 mm dellerto carbs, lightened flywheel.....and nasty!!! (Old School). I used to piss off the kiddies with there 'stangs, Camaros, I beat a 70 Dodge challenger (440 with a six pack), and a couple of vettes. (Stoplight to stoplight). I did lose a few too....no matter how fast you think you are....
But there was nothing better than the surprise in their eyes!!!!!

First of all, the smoke off the tires is called a burnout. Like 'crushito' said, they put the water down so you can burn out, then once the water evaporates your tires start to heat up - hence the smoke. The hot tires help give you MUCH better traction at the line.
I'm kinda surprised the Mustang didn't launch harder because i didn't see much squat in the rear suspension - but that bug was awesome. i love watching cars launch off the line like that.
and a 12.92 second 1/4 mile - at 107 miles per hour is a good time. my friend's '79 camaro that has a 383 small block in it runs in the mid 12's.

Ruffneck knows nothing about cars i would bet. Is that a stock bug? No, but one thing you have to remember is that the bug is al least a couple thousand pounds lighter then the Mustang. And the smoke is not fake! They put down water so the car down not fly off until the rubber on the tires hot and sticky. Modified air cooled bugs have been burning up Mustangs since the 60's. You need to just enjoy the clips and not worry so much if something is fake or real. This ones not!

Sounded more like supercharged then turbo.... Of course the buggy woulda of won unless the GT was all carbonfibered. It was an easy win due to the acceleration and thats all. In an actual race track though the GT would have pulled ahead in 10 more seconds depending how much mod. is in the GT.

I hope you can grasp this. The Engine is in the back and that means most of the weight is in the back. So if the car is juiced up it will do a wheely.If they dont put more weight in the front and with such a short wheel span it will tip back every time they get on it hard on a track with slicks.
