This tutorial uses curves adjustment layers to get more accurate color representation and the ability to change them on the fly - unlike other paint-on techniques where you need to choose your colors beforehand.

Sorry, I don't have a microphone, so no voice-over. Also, sorry if I go too fast, but I tried to keep it short and to the point.

*This video seems to have created quite a buzz with some seasoned Photoshop users and, yes, I have no right to consider this technique as "better" but some of those paint-on techniques that I've seen resulted in images that look fake, so this method does produce better results. Everyone has their own preferences on how to do something, and this video is merely for educational purposes to showcase one of the many powerful tools in PS. Hey, if you feel you can do better, post a video for everyone to see.*

Question
When I return to Normal after the Quick Mask I always get the area that i DONT need selected... So the face is never selected and everything else is.

Any ideas for how to fix this problem?

  First select lasso then right click the image, then choose Select Inverse, good luck

i liked your idea.. i usually use hue/saturation adjustment layers to reach the same results, its much easier my way.. u only have to play around with three knobs "or whatever u call it"..

u left the reds in the corner of the eye btw ;)

kudos on the tutorial.. it is very easy to follow through...

  I think it's a glitch or something because it happened to me too. I found that if you drag the slider back to the beginning, it plays fine. Don't know what's up with it. I've already informed Metacafe - hopefully they're working to fix it.

That's great work man...
I love these colouring in projects, very relaxing, I never use the mask option, prefer to work with the select tool... and thanks to you, I now know how to get rid of the gray edge with the gaussian blur... I was at a loss how to get rid of it, I thought it had something to do with the feathering, but now I know. Many thanks, and keep up the good work :)

  at first, I was always adjusting the feathering of the brush but found that it wasn't consistent whenever you changed the brush size. This way, it doesn't matter 'cuz you just blur the edge anyway.
