the snake and piggy video is a good example of a large pythons power! oh, did i say python? yes. the snkae in the video is a reticulated python not an anaconda. retics are the largest of the python species and are the longest of all snakes(on average). i own a female green anaconda and can testify to their beauty and their power, they are truly the giants of all snakes!

I wonder, if a human was attacked - could one simply bite his/her way out of the hold. I believe it takes 4 minutes to suffocate (or such), I think if you just kept tearing pieces out of the same wound, eventually you'd get to the spinal cord and one good chomp - Freedom. Somebody should "try it at home" and put it on METACAFE so we all know the answer.

1. They eat it alive and it dies in their stomach, usually of suffocation.
2. They constrict it first by coiling around it and squeezing the chest cavity and not allowing it to expand, therefore the animal cannot breathe in, and eventually, suffocation again.
3. they poison it, which is very cool and some poisons are CRAZY in what they can do, such as dissolve internal organs - basically digesting before eating.
There are exceptions - some snakes feed on animals that have already died, or eat eggs, or eat insects which either die in the stomach or die when bitten. I know you didn't ask for a nature lesson, but there you go.
a guy named Jungle Larry. He was an animal handler and expert on snakes. He came to our school (too many years ago that I care to count) and told us of a snake he was working with. It coiled around him and he got out by both biting and scraping the scales backward on it's belly. He told us that's a way to get out of the death grip.

Actually, my brother breeds snakes... Not quite as large as this I grant you, but he has several fairly large pythons, corn snakes, and the like...
He feeds them live animals such as rats & mice.
Its not sick, although I do hate it when he does do it, he only does it once in a blue moon... I think it depends on the snake, but its only about once a month or even more, depending on the snake... I dont know exactly to be honest, but its not often at all.
If you have ever been to a zoo, and looked at any reptiles, then you should know that those have also been fed in the same way. You have to, because they wont otherwise eat... Thats nature.
You got to look at things logically too... If you have ever eaten meat, then you cannot say a thing. just look how we kill our animals for food! That pig had a much better ending than half the pigs us humans slaughter for food, thats for sure, and I know... I worked in an abatoir so anyone tells you the animals for our food had a quick ending are F**king liars.

I saw a PBS documentary on kosher beef - they slit the cow's throat and it takes 15 MINUTES to die...bleeding from its neck with the gurgling and braying...it was so gross, and this is how WE do it (well not me i'm not Jewish, but i'm sure the non-kosher method isn't much better)...the pig probably had about 2 minutes, fairly painless (a little panic maybe) but it essentially fell asleep.
