Port Mansfield, Texas known for its bay and offshore fishing, is on the shores of the Laguna Madre, a shallow body of water along the Intracoastal Canal between the coast and Padre Island. A 25-mile drive to Port Mansfield on Hwy 186, east of Raymondville off US 77, has a stretch on which it is common to see cattle and wildlife including whitetail deer, nilgai (large Indian antelope), javelinas, coyotes, raccoons, turkeys, hawks and other birds.
