i have already tried the following:
1. Deleting the new lines in the file.
2. Changing the website being redirected from. (now two are unavailable)
3. Deleting the files altogether
none of these work, i still get redirected.

Cheez, you're probably just getting a cached page, delete your cookies/temp files, and if you're using IE, click the Settings button next to the Delete Files/Delete button and make sure that "check for newer versions" is not set to "never".

take a screen shot of your desktop and put it AS your desktop and hide your desktop icons...if they click the icons to get into the programs..it'll take them FOREVER to figure it out..and u can change it in 3 clicks.

I reccomend telling your users to go to
C:windows

And click ect them click the one that has the word hosts in it.
