I'm certain that this is was not intended to be a great analogy but it is. This is liberalism illustrated perfectly. Those who consider themselves 'disadvantaged' want the government to lift them up and help them out, but they never take advantage of obvious opportunities to help themselves (like getting a job).

should have done stop the esculator with joe public on, and then set it in reverse and see what they did.

see if they tried to run up it, or just looked stunned as they were taken back down.. if they start facing down then it could be stopped and turned the other way.
