The worse thing that could be added to weed to make it any more harmful then an ordinary plant is another drug. which does happen as often as people think.

Smoke, like any other substance, is only as dangerous as what is in it: the fact that it's smoke does not magically confer it dangerous properties.

Smoking the cannabis bud produces at most a third of carcinogenic tars compared to smoking tobacco: these tars can be removed by smoking through a water pipe system such as a bong.

On top of this the smoke is far less irritating to the lungs and is therefore less likely to cause emphysema. In fact according to Dr Donald Tashkin's report to the Rheims Conference it has a therapeutic effect on most areas of the lung.
