By AladdinSane 1160010667 Reply Spam [+1] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveIf you see in the road the yellow line turns. Only stupids use turnsignals in curves.

By someone54521 1147356758 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveI had to watch it over and over pausing often. There is a double line that curves. As well, there is a sign on the right, leading to the curve that indicates the route turns left. WOW, that may be why the van started to break. It also looks like the first bike is headed into a parking lot.
that would be funny
By Bushwood 1143958885 Reply Spam [+2] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveI am a biker and have been for almost 30 years. I hate too see stupid accidents like this. The SUV is simply following the road. The road turns to the left. If you notice the side road that goes straight there is a stop sign. The curve sign simply tells drivers the change in direction of the road ahead so the drivers should not be surprised and are made aware. The Biker was STUPID!!! He was going 60 MPH...Passed on a double yellow....and to top it off he did it on a 90 degree left bend in the road. I honestly think the first bike was not paying attention to the road either and never seen the curve sign. By the time he passed at the speed he was going he didn't really have much time to make the turn anyways, especially when he was surprised to see it. This is way bikers get a bad rap.
By superbogs 1152169199 Reply Spam [+1] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveBut he's not going 60 mph...the speedo is in km/h...
And the first biker is to blame also....

The road does curve to the left, and the car is just following the road. You can see the biker is trying to get to a side road because you can see the back of the stop sign coming off of that road. Clearly the biker was unfamiliar with the road, and was just trying to keep up with his partner.

By OakMan 1151501295 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveWatch the video again! The SUV Did not need to signal because he was following the road. Do you signal every time the road curves? If you do YOU shouldn't have a licence! Go back to Drivers Ed.
By rnseby 1212986747 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveIm a biker and we all know you should never cross a solid line whatever color it is is your country but when the lines are put down to stop overtaking a greater safty margine is given because cars take longer to overtake so from time to time ,me included ,will cross the line. Here,s the BUT the biker that crashed was following his mate he obviously didnt know the road and yes i know he missed the bend sign but if his mate hadnt overtaken in the first place the crasher wouldnt have followed, bottom line.....change your mate mate.

By Deleterd 1150390992 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveI've read nearly every comment and watched the vid several times. #1 The SUV is following the curve in the road (curve roadsign visible) no turn signal just brake. #2 Both cycles passed illegally. #3 The cycles are driving wildly and should have their license suspended. #4 they will ruin it for safe riders.

By macgyver77 1147226943 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removeall bikers should be crushed by 18 wheelers, just for buying bikes, never mind riding them!
By meatsweats 1145824305 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveLook at the clip closely. If you can go to full screen mode. Use the pause.
The no passing zone is the key here. Also the Road sign for the curve is about 100 to 150 feet from the curve. Also notice that first rider just made it too. That one accelerated to get by the van prior to the curve. Leave the second rider no room to pass.
Van driver is nt required to use the turn signal if staying on the main road. Which the van driver did.
So there was actually not enough room for the second rider to pass and ended up in the accident.
Since it is a residential area. teh speed woudl be about 30 to 45 MPH. Cant tell if it is MPH or KPH on the bike speedo. Van driver is at no fault. By the time the first rider got around the second rider was already going for the pass. This leaves very little time for the van driver to even react. The rider took the risk and paid for it.
Pay close attention to the distance prior to the curve and the accident. Sun light is reflecting off the tail lights of the van. but on the top side of the van. dont forget the riders head is above the camera as well. so the reflection coudl be differant. and if someone was braking in front me i woudl slow down as well. It woudl mean they are going around the curve. I also dont like it when drivers dont use the turn signals. but there s nothing we can do about that.
You CANNOT pass a nother car going over a double yellow line. both bikers are at falt.
By Tannoy 1143913241 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveLook more carefully. The car driver DOES signal about his/her intentions to turn left.
By iggiss 1143643393 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveDrive, ride, sail, flew, (as in commercial airlines) walked or even stood in lines. As though there were other inhabitants on this planet. We just might be able to survive a few more years. What do you think?

Never overtake...
- in a yellow line
- in a curve road/street
Be alert...
- if others will turn left or right by looking at the yellow backlight
- on intersections

By Poker Ex Machina 1147628709 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveAfter double checking I agree with the others who noted that the road curves to the left, marked with both a warning sign of a hard curve to the left, and also the double yellow line. All road users need to be alert and keep checking the space around them, as we can sometimes avoid an accident another road user is about to cause.
Also I thought I would make one other comment. When I learned to drive It was pointed out to me that It is a very wise thing to check your left mirror and shoulder, for anyone who misses your intention to turn and passes you on the left. I always do check this, though I can't say this applies when approaching a curve, in this case the attention would be to the side road ahead and to traffic approaching, perhaps trying to enter that road.
...the problem is some fuckers think they can just ignore them like this moron on the motorcycle... whatever, i hope he/she got F**ker under the car...stupid asshole...
By Jurian 1142423401 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removei'll say only this--- a yellow line is a yellow line is a yellow line. double the line and all that goes double and more. the only thing i'd regret about shooting the bastard(s) was the loss of lead. i'd rather they just agreed to head-on into each other at the same speeds they demonstrated there.

By BigMac82 1155783348 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveI cant tell if the van used the turn sig. Doesnt matter anyway the main road turned left. The first bike went straight, so we figure that the second one was going to go straight also??? So the bike use bad, or no judgement. Why would you pass on the left on a curve to go straight? DAMN!! I dont like to argue with anyone on here, it's like arguing against a brick wall, but anyone who says the van driver holds any responsibility in this is wrong in my opnion. Sure hind sight is 20/20, but who knows what the van driver was thinking, radio on..kids yelling..maybe they didnt even know the bike was behind them. I dont usually look in my mirror before I turn left on a curve, and I doubt anyone else does either. on a narrow road in a residential area, you look in front. I bet a paycheck the police report put the blame 100% on the biker. I ride a bike too but not with people like this guy.
By Tinpusher 1141406504 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveI was wrong ,yes he was going straight while road was going to the left...so that is why there was no turn signal.
BIker was 100% percent wrong
Darn it! I do not like to be mistaken!!!
Sure these are two poor drivers but when it comes right down to liability, the bike rider is in the wrong. Dr.Jomo nailed it, plus he was speeding; Accelerated to 60 in a residential zone. This is too fast for mph or kph (can't make out which one on the speedometer).
The fact that the bike rider had a camera mounted on the his bike, kinda goes to show his frame of mind too. Judging from his disregard for the traffic laws, he wasn't making a video to cataloque safe driving techniques.
Interesting Clip even it is an accident
By giggles 1140999668 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removethe motorcyclist shoudln't have been overtaking there, the car should have been aware of where the motorcyclist is and not driven into their path. i also don't know if the car or the bike indicated.
By KX36 1140995245 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveFirst of all, the car driver indicated that he's about to make turn, and socondly do you always look in your mirrors when making left turn on one lane road with "no crossing" lines? I dont, I'm more concentrated looking ahead and at the intersection where I'm about to turn, to make sure no incomming trafic is comming my way. And if one jerk decided go against trafic rules (law) and make an accident, then lets hope he won't be able drive ever again - one asshole less on road!
By vanowm 1141007816 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removeyou seem to be the only one who can see a turn signal. perhaps you are confusing an artifact of the video compression for a signal, i played it back a few time and i still can't see anything i can definately say is a signal and not an artifact.
By KX36 1141077015 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removelaaars just pointed out something i hadn't noticed. the central road marking turns, the car isn't taking the side road, the motorcyclist is. the car didn't need to indicate.
the motorcyclist is an absolute retard for trying to overtake when they're about to take a sideroad and to do it there.
when you make any manoeuvre, always always ALWAYS
mirror
signal
manoevure
its no use signaling then going without ever looking just because theoretically there should be nothing there.
it doesn't matter that you shouldn't need to if other road users have any common sense, just do it and then you'll see things like a motorbike you're driving into the path of and avoid the whole accident.
you have to be constantly aware of what everyone else is doing so that YOU can avoid accidents and all the hassle that entails
I hate to see this. I ride a bike too, but he's passing with a double yellow line...blind curve comming and the car had their turn signal on !!! Duh !!! I hope he wasnt hurt too bad and grows up.
By Tinpusher 1140968638 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveThe car didn't even have to indicate, the main road curved left so he was just following the main road (see the left curve sign early on). If you're going to have fun on a car or bike you gotta pick your spots and be aware of what's going on.

By Erk 1140964564 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveThe car was not turning or changing lanes, it was going around a sharp bend so there was no need to indicate. The biker shouldn't have attempted to over take on unbroken lines, let alone at a sharp bend.
The SUV driver was probably unaware of the biker, and should have checked mirrors and blindspots after seeing the first biker pass. You can also see the suv go over the line a bit just before it hits the bike.
I assume that the biker had not been on this road, and was just following his mate. He probably thought that the road was straight ahead, and missed the turn sign.
I think the biker infront played a big role in the accident. Hope the one following him was ok...

is the driver blind or something that basted
By sadnfoia 1142575437 Reply Spam [-1] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveDriver didn't indicate his intentions which in my eyes is driving without due care and attention, regardless whether there's a sign or not. The biker is in the wrong by overtaking in a no-take zone yes but take into account where on the pole the sign is and where the rider was looking. He's thinking if the road ahead is clear which it was. If thee driver of the truck had indicated the biker would've seen it and backed off. We live and learn :)

I agree with this comment above...
If I was driving that car I WOULD NOTICE 2 bikes zipping behind me.That is the fact, second thinking would be, well if the first one has zip along me where is the second one.And than I would GIVE MY TURN SIGNAL turn my HEAD AND NECK all together to CHECK my Blind Spot (my driving istructor told me about this when making left turn, just in case I have a cyclist in my blind spot just like in this case)
I know that guy on a motocycle is an IDIOT too,and passing in a no passing zone is stupid, but most likely he could AVOID colision vith a car if these things were done on the behalf of the driver. Also he was accelerating to a 90mph...so he wasn not thinking ahead.
In past I managed to avoid colision simply by thinking AHEAD, just assume that all drivers were idiots and expect unexpected and that is called deffensive driving.
That is why I am saying that DRIVER OF THE CAR could AVOID this if he did think ahead or better say behind.
I just wish to know how old was a driver of the car?
And was he wearing glasses?(people wth glasses have a bad peripheral vision).no offence but 4 more years and I would need a glasses too.
Biker 0 : Car driver 1. yes there was an idiot on the road just like you suggested .As for defensive driving, you carry on. I drive aggresively as there are hundred nay thousand of P***y drivers on the road. Most of the time they are dithering (hesitating) so i make the decision for they. I have had only one accident that i produced. the rest (5) were caused by idiots smacking into me. bikers and car aimers alike.

They were both selfish and ignorant and resposible for the accident.
you need the glasses NOW, not later. The road winds left. The first rider has left the main road. Look at the unbroken double yellow lines.
By dragons79 1142775780 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveI've ridden street and competition for 30 years and 99.9% of the bike accidents on this site are due to really stupid and incompetent riders.
Passing on a in a no passing zone, failure to yield the right of way, careless driving, speeding, all negate any argument about turn signals.
And even if it didnt show the turn signal, the byke driver tryed to pass in "no passing" zone (double yellow lines = "no passing") and that makes it 100% byke driver's fault!
By vanowm 1141008053 Reply Spam [-1] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveWhen the road curves when do you give a signal? You don't! The road had a 90 degree curve in it. The dumbass on the bike should have been watching the signs and knowing that you do not pass on a double solid line. and especially in a curve.
By Dickman 1141344145 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveAmericans dont show turns thats the problem! Biker couldn;t predict that guy make a right turn!
By Vladimir from russia 1147747691 Reply Spam [-2] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removethe SUV driver couldn't predict a bike would try to overtake in a place where it's illegal to do so.
Look at it this way:
you are driving and there are several signs that tell you "no one is allowed to overtake, not even you", "you have a turn ahead, start braking" the only sign that is is missing (because its something you already know) is the one that says "it is safe to turn, just look at the oncoming traffic AHEAD (not your rear mirrors since all drivers should have read the signs as well) and if it is safe to turn, do it.... and then you get hit by a biker that paid no attention to the signs..... is it the SUV driver's fault??
he made a left turn..
By hEAtOniK 1151127828 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removethe auto driver is obviously not paying attention to his/her mirrors....
How could he/she not have heard the bikes accelerating?
2 bikes in the rear view mirror, 1 passes you two seconds before you are about to take a left turn. How about taking one more look in the mirrors before turning?
But still... on paper it's the bikers fault entirely
was probably putting on make up or shaving whilst talking on the phone or listening to loud music. but that dont matter cos the biker was the T**t if she/he slowed down abit or went to a race track to race then she/he would have caused the accident. i have a motorbike and i only crash thru my own stupidity. Stop trying to defend the stupid. """(:)@
By Teddy_bare 1146394616 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removewhat you stated is simply wrong because the van was obeying the road rules but the bike rider wasn't, why would the van need to give way to a bike rider in this instance, if the bike rider is going to be stupid enough to make such a ridiculous move then the onus falls on him. "Vehicle drivers" (and I do mean all road users) have an obligation to follow all the road rules for everyones safety, no ones Immune! The accident was inevitable given the arogance of these bike riders for the road rules, yes other road users have to look for bikes but in these circumstances of the type they are bike riders must look at traffic before such a stupid move is made in order to survive on the roads!
