The tunnel runs under a river and is not 100% watertight, so in the russian winter the leaking water freezes from the cold air rushing through the tunnel which is why so many people lose control of their cars through there!

You are the one who needs to get a life if you can't understand what they were meaning by the last email about Indy. The point was that it isn't speed its speeding to fast for the cars capabilities, the conditions or your own capabilities behind the wheel that results in accidents. Indy or any racing on the track shows that speed is not the single factor determining a crash or not.

First of all they are really speeding, if you think they are not, consider you are watching very low quality videos, plus you are watching it in perspective, something that really fools the sense of depth (you cannot measure speed if you are have no fair depth perception)

Also, the tunel is nothing more that very long straight paths, and large radius curves.

However (sorry I don't remember the english word for this if someone knows what I'm talking about please post the correct word) The curves are not tilted, which means the centrifugal furce the car experiences tends to pull the carr out of the curve instead of pushing it down to the ground, which transaltes in less stability because wheels are no longer pressed against the floor and also reduces handling.

***Useful note!:

Remember, in order to take curves safely you MUST enter the curve relatively slow, and as you are on it, speed up, so you come out of it faster than you came in, this way you have more precise control of your car. If you come in too fast, and brake during the curve you will, most likely, lose control of the car, either because you came too fast and you wont be able to turn (you will go straight out of the road) or you have the risk of blocking the brakes, and therefore loosing control of the vehicle. (you might spin right in the middle of the curve)

You can also see some of this accidents that you say have no reason to happen is people change lanes when they are not supposed to (someone already said it, solid white line means no changing lanes) , plus, they change lanes braking, while in fact you should never do, since the speed limit is not the same in the 3 lanes (for those of you who don't know this, the far left lane is for fast speed, the center lane(s) medium, and the right lane is for slow speed, that is why trucks and heavy weight vehicles are required to be on right lanes)

I assume some of this accidents happened during day time, but since it is inside a tunel it's hard to tell, if it is the case then maybe drivers come in the tunel too fast, and their eyes have no time to addapt to the darkness of the tunnel (imagine coming into your house after being outside under the sun for a while) even if other cars have their tail lights on, you would have a reduced sight. (we all know sight is the most important thing while driving)

For the misterious truck, my guess is it crashed in the other side of the tunnel, wich we can't see because each side is isolated and it actually broke tru the wall, if you look closely there is nothing, there is just some pipes and it is no intersection.

in conclusion, the tunnel is dangerous because people drive to fast ,they change lanes when they shouldn't, the road is nearly to be completely horizontal so cars lose handling, speeding, and the posibility of having reduces sight due to sudden darkness (while entering the tunnel at daytime) at high speeds, it is not the best scenario at all.

let's not aso forget where this is comming from. Everyone knows that in Russia, vodka replaces water. The country is amongst the highest in alcoholism and mot of these drivers are probably drunk. Wheteverthe factor may be, I believe intoxication is a prime factr as to why this tunnel is so dangerous. Losing control of a vehicle does happen-even to the best of us, but when your drunk, and a majority of Russian workers tend to drink a lot, losing contro is an obvious reprocussion.

As someone already commented, if you put a camera on any freeway for enought time (let's imagine a whole year... feel free to research how many accidents there are in different countries in a whole year), you will be able to compile something like this. This is something I have yet to figure out. In the 15 years I've been driving trucks, why would you put something that weighs 80,000# (u.s.) in the lane used to decel and accel at exits? So people in their speedy (four wheelers) cars, can go from the far left lane and make their exit 4 lanes over without having to worry about hitting a 75 foot truck. It doesn't matter what country your from, it's the same everywhere. People need more education and training on operating vehicles.

People is not supposed to changes lanes as they will. You are not supposed to cross over 4 lanes after you take an exit. The reason? unless you're in a raceway, you have to be aware that you must chose your lane, and to check for other vehiles (also make use of that stick in the right of the steering wheel... you know... the one that turns on the blinking arrows) to announce you're about to change lanes... where in hell is it allowed to cross all over the lanes without the fear of hitting someone?

you should do a little research because it also applies to Mexican laws of traffic. Right lanes are for slow traffic, and for heavy weight vehicles.

Drivers are supposed (as far as I know this really is for most of the countries) to pick a lane, and stay on it as much as you need, and once they need to change lanes, do it correctly (you know... using that stick on the left side of your steering wheel that turns on and off the blinking arrows) to make sure other drivers know what you are about to do.

Not to cross all over 4 lanes without "having to worry" about hitting other vehicles.

and also you may have not noticed, but in SOME of the signs that say "EXIT" on freeways (the small yellow ones), below the word "exit", there is a little number... well that number is the speed limit in order to take that exit... (usually 40 mph)

You will find that on the European Continent we have strict rules about where heavy goods vehicles can and cannot go. Lanes 1 and 2 are next to the exits, lanes 3 are closer to the middle of the motorway.

id does happen on US roads sometimes. it all depends on how drunk and stoned the drivers are. when you have sober drivers you usually get cut off. thats the worst.

but see, road safety in america is different, becuase if you watch that, all those people OBVIOUSLY didnt look in their mirrors and just decided "we dont need blinkers" and when you are at a high rate of speed and not being AT ALL cautious and you have that many accidents, you obviously have a nation of drivers who arent too good at driving, why would you even need to lane change in a tunnel? its people who want to go fast, arent aware, and shouldnt have their liscense until they learn how to drive. Crap like that is constantly happening on Australian roads. If you took footage from the traffic cameras on Parramatta road you could compile something very much like that clip. The only difference would be that most of the cars would be P plate drivers..
