I am sad to say the video shootingeggs posted was a fake. I wanted to believe, but after I was unable to track down any of the dye, I became suspicious. I decided to recreate the composition, and found it to be a miserable failiure. Another fake video posted by shootingeggs just to get producer rewards. He simply wrapped a commercial coloured grenade in duct tape, then lit it. If you look carefully at his video, you can see a white line around the grenade when it is lit, which is not there when it's wrapped.

    No one can find the dye there either. They also thought it looked like a commercial product. How disappointing. Thanks for taking the time. The fact that shoot'eggs have not commented really convinces me though. And they took down your comments? Did the administrators do that or can you take down other people's comments when you post?

      there are three things wrong here 1 the hole it said specifically dont forget the hole and 2 why is the coumpound white it is supposed to look like penutbuter 3 where is the cotton and in shooting eggs vid u saw the cotton ball that they put in befor so it isnt a fake

      oh and also i saw in another vid that u can not over cook it and did i forget the baking soda

    I have made similar statements on Youtube and have emailed sepplson directly. To no avail.
    Having said all this, I am currently letting 4 new smokers cool off so I can try a different mixture. Hey, I have 5 pounds of KNO3 to use up somehow!
    I am going 2:1-- KNO3:Brown sugar, 2 packs of Rit dye, 1 pack of hobby dye powder and 1/4 cup baking soda.
    I will check in if I get good results, but I am not optimistic.

    Biopyro. I have been saying that the video by Sepplson is most likely a hoax too. When I challenged people to say the name brand of the dye they used, they say " Well, it worked but the smoke was just gray." So I guess burning newspaper is a smoke bomb. I think he used a Pains Wessex smoke flare.
    A couple points: It was definitely a different smoke bomb than the one you saw constructed as there was a rudge around the middle and the top was more smoothly rounded.
    Also, you don't need duct tape. That is misdirection. I(n fact Duct tape will burn after the bomb goes out.
    Again, before you call me an idiot, make sure you can supply a recipe you have tried THAT MAKES COLORED SMOKE. FOR OUR PURPOSES, GRAY IS NOT CONSIDERED A COLOR. Then give us the info and we can move on. Till then..HOAX!

    it is most likely fake because 1. Why would the dye produce color smoke in the first place

    2. i haven't seen anyone make a color smoke bomb using this method

    3. most likely shootingeggs just bought some color smoke bomb mixture from skylighter or something

      The reason I put no colour in is becuase there is no such thing. Normally organic dyes called "anilines" are used, but they burn at the high temperatures in a KNO3 and sugar grenade, instead of just evaporating. If I'd added the dye, you'd never know because it would burn when i touches the air.

      I haven't got round to doing the instant ice yet, since I'm working on a few other things atm.

      I tried what I thought was happening - deionised water was supercooled and the salt provided nucleation sites for the water to crystallise on.
      Of course, this makes the water freeze as soon as the water is added, so my bet is on the video being melting ice played in reverse.

    Re my last post and the ingredients listed I received negative results. Disappointing but not unexpected. The flames were a lot larger and no colored smoke resulted.

    Yeah i tryed one but i didn't melt it well. And try not to give the sugar-KNO mix to BURN with flames it should burn with out flames. Try NH4NO3 mix was making MUCH MORE smoke than this one, however it need time to start smougling.

    I have just bought some KN and tried making smoke bombs, ive tried 60-40 ratio on a low heat and melted them, when i set this thing going its leathal, flames 3 feet high with only little amount of smoke, the last smoke bomb on your video is very good, what ratio did you use? any idea's why mine isnt working? thanks for your time reading this as any replies will be greatly appriciated

    you probably are just not cooking the mix right, or didn't add the proper mix, it is 3 table spoons of Potassium Nitrate to every 2 table spoons of sugar, try that... it should make a nice thick white smoke...

      The smoke bomb isn't fake. If you follow the video you will in fact make a decent smoke bomb. Just not with color. I've searched and tried various "organic dye" and like some of these comments suggest, it just burns off from heat and nothing by white smoke results. I too second the notion that he wrapped a commercial smoke grenade in duct tape and called it his own. wouldn't recomment adding too much baking soda if your making this indoors because it will cause your mixture to rise quite rapidly and flow over the pot.

    It's just the light mate and yes I saw it there when it's wrapped...unless I'm looking at something different..

    Also you arn't even following the instructions properly. I'll try it out for myself when I have the time and see how it goes

    but how many other of there vids are fack ive tryed a few and by my count ZERO so why would the make this one fake

    and instead of tht dye did u ever think kool aid could be a posibilty it has dye into it and will break down in the mix

      Kool aid has water in it, and the dye is juse food colouring. the organic dye it needs is nitroaniline dye
