    • NOT EVEN 200mph

I agree with above poster. This bike may be going close to about 170-180. My best guess would be he did what ALOT of enthusiasts do and interchange the wheel sprockets. If the speedo isn't calibrated after the change, it will show an incorrect mph.

Also, this is an OLD video I have seen many times, never mentioning ANYTHING about it being turbo. I think these guys just make up headings to suit their tastes. At any rate, take it for what it's worth; a bad video!

      completely agree

By foamy 1156752152 Reply Spam Moderate Up Moderate Down
    • Ummmmmm, no.

speed is calibrated off of the FRONT tire and has nothing to do with sprocket changes. You can create the same effect if you change the front wheel size, but it would be a significant difference in indicated speed.

    • umm no? how do you figure?

is that why the people with their 600 suntas n huge ass sprockets have a LOWER TOP SPEED?
seriously, how do so many people of you people have the gall to make a comment when you dont ride yourself? my r1 has ~160 hp and ive had it up to 170mph and it wasnt that close to the red line. what makes you think a 1300cc bike cant get to 200mph?

By athomeinspace 1158952331 Reply Spam Moderate Up Moderate Down
    • Ummmmm, you missed the point

First of all, I've been riding for 30 years, which I figure started long before you were born. I currently ride a 1200 bandit and FZ1, so have SOME experience with performance.

Secondly, you completely missed my point. My comment was about how speed is measured, not created. Of course you can get 200 mph out of a bike. My comment was to the guy that said the speed was fake because the gearing was changed. Simple demonstration for those who don't get it:

Put your motorcyle on the center stand so the rear wheel is off the ground. Start the bike, put it in gear and let the rear whell spin. Look at the speedometer. Is it indicating any speed? NO!! Speed is taken from the front wheel, NOT the sprockets.

The other point is that just because your bike hasn't reached redline at a certain speed, doesn't mean it has the power to do it, either. If you've changed the gearing or sprockets, there is nothing that says you will have the horsepower to reach redline in top gear.

    • sorry jeffinlodi

im really not trying to argue with you because ive never been on a fazer, but both my 2004 r6 and 2004 r1 idle at 6mph and 9mph when on the stand... and the previous comment i made wasnt particularly to your post but most of what i read before...sorry for randomly choosin yours to click ;)

By athomeinspace 1159122743 Reply Spam Moderate Up Moderate Down
    • Thank you.....

I appreciate the feedback and the information. I have never seen or heard of a bike that doesn't measure speed off the front wheel, but I am going to take your word on it. AND, now that I watch it again, I see that in this video, the speed keeps climbing, while the front wheel is off the ground.

So, my humble apologies for my touting something I didn't know. So, tell me, where is the speed taken from? The rear wheel, or the sprocket shaft? What made me think I knew this information for sure was that I just watched a show on motorcycle racing and they were talking about analyzing all the infomation they gather from the bikes while they were on the track. One piece of information was wheel speed. They showed coming out of corners, the front wheel speed dropped because it was off the ground.....anyway, that's interesting info. Thanks for enlightening me.

    • wheelie?????

if that was the case then when he does a wheelie the speed would drop according to the speedo

200mph is not that special for a busa

    • Ummmmmm, yes.

Yes, that IS what happens; the front wheel comes off the ground, and the tire speed slows, therefore displaying a slower speed on the speedometer

  • Turbo Setup

It's been years now, but I believe this Busa had a T-76 Turbo on it. If you look around hard enough, you'll find a longer clip which shows the bike, and the turbo before he hops on and goes for this run. Yes, he really going that fast. Just look at how fast he accellerates once the bike is back on 2 wheels, and he's in a high enough gear that he won't do into a wheelie again.

It's real - video ALWAYS looks slower. Unless corrected, busa's speedo is off around 15% up stairs, but this is a turboed and built out bike. why would you fake something like this? I film high speed runs on mine all the time.

  • Justa question

I haven't ridden bikes for along time now so i'm not really up to date in them. But, while i'm sure the bike can do those speeds, it does seem to take some time to pass those side roads. And this is my question where is the speedo driven from on this bike. It looks like this guy is on his back wheel for some time in the video and if the speedo was driven from the front wheel it would not increase the speed on the speedo.

  • Just to let you know

This video is 100% Real, and if you pay attention to the speedo, you´ll see this bike reaches 220mph right? (354kph) but @ 10,000 revs... if you look closer to the tachometer (revs) you´ll see it goes further (11,200) aprox, this means the bike reached 354kph AND then keep accelerating 1000 more revs/min. So this guys wasnt driving at 354 he was driving at 360 or more. 100% real video street lines wont see like one straight line unles you look it at 90º.

    • i think so too

i think video cameras and human eyes can catch images with speed of light
so no mattar how fast i think you won't see straight solid lines
unless you are like really really fast,
      i think 220 mph won't dooo

so sad i don't have enough money to get one of those bike :((

  • FYI....

Busa's are famous for errant speedometers. My stock Busa regularly pagged the speedo at 220MPH. GPS testing knocked it down to 186. $4000 in engine mods later, and I can barely get 190MPH. By the way, this video looks like is was filmed in Donaldsonville, Louisiana (USA) on state road 3127, a road where you can really stretch out your bike. (Miles long...in the middle of the woods, with no roads coming in to it.)

  • Suzuki 650

Me and a buddy were doing 160 on a Suzuki 650 about 15 years ago. When we tried it again a few years later it would not go that fast.
It was really stupid though, because riding in the country you risk hitting a dead racoon or possum or deer or any number of things that can cause you to get a road rash or even death.
This video, wether he breaks 200 or not, is still pretty fast, and has to be at least a little bit of an adrenaline rush.

I am no "super" bike freak of rider. But I know speed. And yes it was going fast but I highly dowbt 200MPH. If you look at the white lines for one and more so on the side when it is passin those small streets, check the speed they pass by. Not anywhere close to if the bike was doing 200MPH. Cus I'm accustomed to cars, and while doing even as slow as 140MPH everything would fly past alot faster. Plus this is a bike, so it should even seem flying past even faster.

OK, why nobody is comparing the moving of the picture to the speed? He passed several road-cuts (or what ever the name it is) and you can actually see them .If he was at 220mph or above, he would pass them for less than 0.000001 sec. So... this is fake.
Not to mention the time need for the acceleration... not to mention the same acceleration time in the beging, mid or the end of the speedometer

By vorky 1139980796 Reply Spam [-2] Moderate Up Moderate Down
    • not fake!

The bike has 600HP and it weights only 200kilos! Cars and other big vehicles accelerate slow over 100kmh, but motorbikes have sutch a great power to weight ratio that they accelerate linear up to 200kmh (if the turbine is set propperly) -
believe me, I have been racing a Honda Fireblade 1000cc and I have raced motorbikes for 10 years and it's not fake!

    • You guys

are freggin idiots. I've been on a Busa @ 180+MPH It took 34 secs to get from dead stop to around 180. This bike that you are seeing is a turbo charged bike. The lines in the road are not solid at that speed, unless your brain only works at 10 frames-per- second. This bike is capable of over 200MPH stock.

    • .

And thats only confirms that you know nothing about bikes and how video works. if the camera would be turned 90 degree - on the side, then you wont be able see any cross-roads nothing, only one colored patern. And if you cant see cross-roads at 220 mph then it means you cant see road signs either which means you need glasses...:P ;)
