Taco Bell Tantrum: Man Calls 911

All he wanted was a taco. But instead, a Florida man was charged with misuse of the 911 system.



NEWS12: “Terry Kimbell of Largo, Florida. He called 9-1-1 -to tell cops that workers at a taco bell drive-thru wouldn't serve him because he walked up the window.”



KABC has the call. Here’s how Kimbell explained why he had to walk-through a drive-through.



“I want something to eat. I walked up to the window, and I said I would drive but I'm too drunk to drive.”



Taco Bell doesn’t allow walk-ups at the drive-through, the company says, for safety reasons. A Miami New Times blogger wonders...



“Do they not have Checkers anywhere near Largo? Not only is that good drunk food, but also they actually have walk-up windows.”



But an ABC anchor says Kimbell’s choice not the drive-through drunk was a smart one, and this really didn’t have to end this way.



“I understand that you don't call 911 because you can't get your chimichanga or whatever. But the guy was drunk and said i would rather walk and get my little drunk food. 911, Driving drunk. I don't know give that man a burrito and call it a day. That's all I'm saying.”



Kimbell’s not the strangest 9-1-1 call. The blog Oddee put together a list of top ten. Here’s a few foodie ones:



In another fast food fiasco, a woman, also from Florida, called because McDonald’s was out of Chicken McNuggets.



And in Fort Worth, a woman called because she wanted more shrimp in her fried rice.

It is illegal to call 9-1-1 for a non-emergency, and different states have different penalties. PS: We don’t know if Taco Bell guy ever ended up getting his taco.
