According to SAMHSA (March 2008) Oklahoma leads the nation in prescription painkiller addiction with 6.7% of the population 12 and over using Oxycontin, Lortab, Vicodin, Percocet, Demerrol, Morphine, Dilaudid, hydrocodone, or oxycodone for non-medical purposes. That means over 200,000 people, over 60,000 in Oklahoma County (Oklahoma City).
