  • Beautiful Science Experiment

Could you please explain why it happens. What's the science?

    By Not Again!! 1186241424
    • Certainly...

Dish soap works by breaking the surface tension of water (the molecules holding water to water), which then allows the water to mix with oil and grease. In this experiment, we used milk because the fat in it prevents the food colouring from mixing in right away, as it would with water. When the soap hits the liquid in the dish, it works at breaking the surface tension so that the milk will eventually combine with the food colouring. I hope this helped!

  • Pretty cool!

How much milk does that take becasue my kids waste enough milk?

    By bayoubunny 1184873101
    • You can use

you can use any round dish, as long as there is a good 1/2 inch of milk in the bottom of the dish it will work. the more you use the bigger and more spectacular it will look. have fun
