Probably, but maybe not. Cats will sometimes strike out without using their claws even though they do have them. It is a warning without intent to harm. If they get mad enough though, out comes the heavy artillery. I wish I could remember what they are called, but there is a product that allows owners to keep the claws safe without removing them. It sticks on to the nail itself but does come off when the cat sheds the nail, so it has to be re-applied occasionally. Still better than de-clawing though.

i think the dogs got real balls for attempting the 2nd time...

If that had been my cat, that dog would have been gettin a good ass kickin. Poor cat was probably declawed, but should have sunk those teeth into some dog nose.

We have a 19 lb., cat that looks quite like this one and is just about as grouchy, too.

Actually you can have a cats front claws removed to prevent them from hurting children or other animals or to prevent them from destroying furniture. Of course it is only recomended for cats who are inside only because they have no other defense.
