Im sorry to say but i am more convinced every time i listen to this clip that the guy who was actually filming this clip didnt actually give any comentary at all and has been added at a later time.

If you all listen carefully there is an echo on his voice. this would only be achieved if he was in an enclosed fairly big room. The window was obviously wide open cause you can hear all the background noise, rocks being pelted and even an iron bar being dropped. Then you get the echo of the dumb ass filming it. Has anyone ever thought that the News of The World newspaper has edited this or has someone else!!

I didn,t see a whole lotta cooperatin' from those poor children. I also didn't see the Blokes lop off the poor children's heads, or slit the poor children's throats, or throw the poor children off a building. I'm not one to say leave them alone, but once they are obviously restrained, that should be the end of it. I don't think what the soliders did was right, but if the tables were turned and the kids got hold of a couple of soliders, I'm sure they would be doing the samething if not worse. These soldiers face bullets and bombs every day. In a riot like this, multiple warnings are given to cease and disperse. These kids ignored them. The British army has very efficient methods in riot situations. They go forward and capture the active ringleaders, these kids are not innocent bystanders, they're the most active of the rioters.
All those soldiers are armed. Imagine if that army post was manned by Iraqis? do you think that no shots would have been fired, no bleeding dead teenagers left in the street?

I wish I could get some background on this and find out why the soldiers did this. I dont' see a good explanation for it. Soldiers should act professionally, but I would guess these punks were instigating the riots, shooting a the soldiers and possibly harming civilians. The fact is that this unit acted with considerable and commendable restraint. Under their Rules of Engagement the troops could have legally opened fire on the rioters, due tor the fact that the soldiers were being attacked with petrol bombs and grenades. If you look at the 'beasting' meted out to the rioters you will see that it is fairly mild in relation to the typical British infantryman's S**t kicking capability. None of the rioters were killed or seriously injured. Ultimately, they were merely given a slapping. And no, I don't agree with the oil driven wars in Iraq and Afgahnistan.

Further down I read a comment that the Iraqis / Israelis / Palestineans should just kill themselves by suicide bombings and so on until we have peace in the Middle East. Maybe we should do that here as well--hand out knives to all the metacafe users, switch off the light, lock the door and wait until it's silent.

Fact is we can't change what's happening down there and why it's happening down there. Right now, there is a war going on. Regarding this video, I can understand the reaction of the British soldiers (having served in the Army I know what I'm talking about and I'm glad that we snipers never had to deal with such situations); after all, they are stressed by war enough already, got attacked before and maybe want to show the rioters that they shouldn't mess with the Brits--but are their actions legal? Probably not. The Geneva Convention is stretched too much these days.

To be honest, the comments from the cameraman or whoever said that remind me of the comments of Iraqi terrorists screaming "Allah" when catching their bombings on camera. And in my opinion, this is more than sad because soldiers of the coalition forces should not act the same than the ones they are fighting against because it weakens their credibility. But what else should they do?

I don't think there's right or wrong, and I also don't think that there's a universal solution to the conflict. But I know for sure that flaming won't help.

I am not a soldier, but I am a police officer. Both of us working under discipline. I don't know where are the mass destructive weapons hiding, or even the worst they are not really in exist. Soldiers are only follows the order giving by their superior and did what they are told to, as long as it seems lawful. If I am one of the soldier being attacked by the rioter, perhaps I will do the same thing. But they should be blamed for using excessive force on the civilian, especially when they are not armed.

I spent 6 Months in that S**t hole of a country and almost everyday i was shot at bricks thrown at me and bombs going off around me, I think these little bastards got off lightly. In my opinion, the US went into Iraq because of banned weapons, which they themselves gave Iraq. Saddam is a CIA trained agent (if you bother to do your research). It's interesting to hear about different opinions that are in reality, based on nothing. I served two tours in Iraq with the 3rd Infantry Division and I can assure you that I have been in similar situations many times. Under certain circumstances leading to the event, I would admit of acting aggressively toward our enemy forces, but by far British troops had always been notorious for being over the top aggressive toward insurgents. I’ve seen them in action in Basra and I remember talking about that with my buddies few years ago. However to a soldier’s defense, I will tell you that some of these soldiers have been away from home for nearly if not over a year. Their girlfriends, wives probably cheating on them, they work 20 hours a day guarding command post or doing patrols or attending street skirmishes. Ambushes from enemy forces are sporadic and childish. It’s like a game of hide and seek that we all played back in grammar school. Officers are on them 24/7 with nothing more than stupid things like doing the “S**t detail”. Low in food and water, haven’t showered for weeks and then you have those punks shooting rocks at you just to get you ticked off. Trust me the breaking point have reached a long ago, that was just a burst of rage that didn’t have any better way to drain out. I’ve experienced it myself, and it’s not pretty. Soldiers go through tremendous hardship and they don’t deserve the criticism.

There are several things that could be said about this clip and the comments posted.

1- People, please do not make comments about a race or a group of people just by looking at the actions of a few. Just because some Arabs acted upon violence, it does not make all Arabs or muslims terrorists just as the killings done by the christian armies does not make every Roman catholic a murderer.

2- Democracy is not a gift that could be given to people through bombs. I believe every person would be angry if bombs were dropped on them, killing their family members or innocent friends in the name of Democracy. Although I believe the anger that these kids have towards the alien soldiers is justifiable, I do not believe their actions are.

3- It is sad to see the violence taken upon these kids. I can imagine how tired and angry these soldiers can be, but the actions they took is unjustified.

Imagine if you are stuck in a worn torn country for months on end away from friends, loved ones and family,being shot at and under the constant threat of being bombed while holding the knowledge that fellow troops have died in the hands of the local population your not going to feel like taking any S**t Those teens were probably the final straw. that 99% of the soldiers from all countries never do things such as this, and I never saw an armed soldier lay a hand on a civilian in Afghanistan my entire service!

That said, this is some of the most appaling treatment you can give someone.

But these soldiers are ARMED with rifles and they're wearing their nation's crest and uniform!
Had I or anyone in my contigent done this, we'd be sent packing instantly! As long as you are in uniform, you represent your country, and if you can't check your anger (believe me, we were attacked like this half a dozen times), you have no bussines being in uniform!
