What more will the Japanese come up with ? This is absulutely amazing. A portable turntable, now you can play vinyl records anywhere.

  • I had one of these...

...but it broke not long after I got it. It was used, so I wasn't too worried about it.

  • pretty cool but...

i believe they have something better on the market its called an ipod:) lol.

who still has a record player anymore anywayz, to buy this i'd have to buy a new LP to go with it.

cool invention don't think u'd use it that often just to impress your friends.

  • litle problem

as it moves in towards the centre, it should need to slow down because one revolution isn't the same distance as it was. and as it gets closer to the centre it should need to turn at a harder angle.
what happens to the sound if this is the case? would that damage the LP?

    • no problem

A turntable doesn't change rpm. A CD player does. The density of information changes with radius on a record.
The van stays at the same radius, using the outer edge as a guide. Only the needle shifts position.
But this isn't new. I believe there has been something like this for decades. Maybe that device itself is old.

ah, the van doesn't change radius, that explains it, thankyou.

just for the people that might be curious as to what i was talking about, an explanation:
there are 2 speed variables here, speed (v) and angular speed (w; should be a lower case omega) related by the radius
      v = rw
records are recorded and played assuming constant w, varying v since the thing turns at a constant number of rpm which is obviously angular speed
this little thing would be varying w and constant v since it's driven by little wheels which don't change speed depending on the radius. (that is, if the van was changing radius which i now know it isn't so v=w anyway)

Why no music. You can not hear things very well. He should have chosen a music record.
