We go on rollercoasters and watch scary movies for the same adreniline rush that kid just got. To face fears makes us stronger because we become desensitized to the rush. If anything this helped the kid. Because when a real stranger comes knocking with bad intentions the fear he felt here in a situation where no harm could come to him will temper the fear for the situations when it can harm hi,m allowing him to breath slowdown and think. Its is better to prepare yourself for a fear you may never have to face than to freeze once comfronted with it. Besides to show a child fairy tales of santa, faires and magic is to lie and disillusion, better to tell them of God, death and demons which actually do exist.
