xbox lovers just want to find a way to make a platform equaled to a computer. neva happen. computers always upgrade, platform will stay static. i know MY computer is faster than the Xbox

the xbox 360 tops a total of 10.1GHz through 7 hardware threads. The worlds FASTEST single computer cant top 7GHz through 1 hardware thread. The worlds fastest supercomputer (not capable of running video games) is 26GHz, of course thats for handling a massive amount of number crunching for scientific calculations, not for playing farcry.

And in actuality XBOX 360 resolution (1080i) is higher than the standard 1280x1024 resolution for computer. Not to mention the xbox 360 and a 27 inch 1080i HDTV costs around $1000 less than the price of most desktop gaming PCs (without monitors)

first off, bandwith is not calculated in hertz, its calculated in magabit(1/8 a byte) and compute power is measurd in flops(FLoating Operations Per Second) and most computers have more then 1 thread, and the 360 has 3 threads, because it has 3 cores. the xbox 360 renders nativly at 1024x768(720p) NOT 1080i, it then streatches the image to whatever you have it set at.1680x1050 is the stander resolution for computer gaming, please, go read something.

My friends $3,000 computer can only output a max of 1920 x 1200, which isn't much better. From what I've seen of pc's and 360's, the 360 can put out the same level of detail that a high end computer can run. Maybe not top of the line. But if you are just guessing about the abilities of the 360 I suggest you play it on a 1080p monitor/television. You will be surprised at what It can do.

most, if not ALL pc games have adjustable quality levels, even 5 year old pcs(older then 360) can run portal, farcry, and eve crysis, with lower quality sattings, 360 cant even run crysis at all.

360 runs at 3.2 Ghz. Soon, 360 is going to go bye-bye and they're going to come out with a new console.

And 360 owners will STILL be spending less than pc gamers. lol. Its ironic. Pc gaming is SUCH an expensive undertaking.

get me a PC for $399 which can do high def 1080p, play HD DVD, Have Dolby Digital Sound, Have a 3 core processor running at 3.2 Ghz each....and have an auesome graphics card which can F**k anything in its way.....and get me a PC like that and i will say, yes u are right. So please...just zip it and play on your sucky pc with its hangups and its slow ass graphics card, doesnt matter even if its NVIDIA Geforce 8 series or better...its just not going to work as flawlessly as an XBOX 360.

See the only reason you're getting high-end hardware in the 360, is because Microsoft is losing/breaking even on it...

After you add in the cost for your HD-DVD player, digital surround sound, 1080p HDTV, 4 controllers, Xbox live, and 10 games, you're spending thousands of dollars. That's where Microsoft is making money...

Trying to argue the price-point is silly, We build computers to our specifications and are paying mark-up on every component... if we got components at the prices Microsoft / other companies spend on building them we would have amazing computers for $5-600...

You're not going to build a whole PC for 399. But to upgrade an existing PC with $399 worth of hardware and you're going to have a beast. 8800 GT, and a new CPU will blow a 360 out of the water. PC's can do higher resolutions than a 360. My friend plays COD4 on a 37" TV at 2048 x 1536. Way Higher than a 360 can do.

Also, the 360 doesn't play HD DVD's. There's a 200 dollar attachment that does that.

The 360's resolution is 1920 by 1080 while most players play at about 1280 by 1024 on a PC. There are gaming PCs faster than the 360, though most are probably not, I know mine isn't.
All said, I think the game's graphics were upgraded in the 360 version, after all, it's been out for a while now...

Hey xbox enthusiast, your base model dell of course won't compare to a xbox 360. There is this thing called a video card, an nvidia 512 MB dvi video card would make a 360 look like a nintendo 64. it seems that no one else has mentioned the fact that pc can also utilize dual monitors for extreme multitasking. try watching an hd dvd and playing cod4 at the same time on an xbox 360, u cant. also, u say "xbox is better cuz its $400", when actually its WORSE cuz its $400. there isn't even any thermal compound between the cpus/gpus and their heatsinks in the xbox. which is one of the reasons they fry themselves. in addition, the mouse and keyboard are easier to use and are superior for web browsing and things like that. AND, most likely, if u hav an xbox, u probably hav a computer AS well because it can do basic tasks like printing, typing, researching, web browsing. things the xbox simply cannot do. actually, everyone here argueing for the xbox is using a computer. ALSO, pcs are far more personalized and user friendly. o, and pcs can render resolutions far greater than 1920x1200. my primary monitor is running 1920x1440 and can run resolutions far greater, but the text gets too small. theres more; there is always new software and OS's coming out for the pc, giving its user an increased customizational experience. xbox is same old same old, o, and u cant upgrade it. dont forget to even utilize xbox's online features, u hav to purchase xbox live, and not just once, once every year AND pay for internet.

xbox360's graphics might be better now than many pc's, but then again that depends on your specs. try comparing some new games on a pc with a physics accelerator, and great graphics cards. to fully use an xbox 360 you need an hdtv, to fully use a pc you need good graphics cards. how long is this generation of consoles gonna last? before the xbox 360 came out pc gaming was much better than ps2 and xbox gaming, was it not? so pretty much in a year or so pc gaming will be better than xbox 360. it is true that developers learn to use the consoles to their full potential after a while (just look at some of the later games on ps2 or xbox) but pc gaming will still be a step ahead. when new consoles come out they might be a step ahead of pcs, but pcs catch up VERY quickly. Also consider that many great games do not function well on consoles. real time strategy games (my favorite) plain fking blow on consoles, and they should just stop trying. online play on consoles is much worse than pc online play but i have a feeling that will soon change. ps3's blu-ray is ridiculous. a blu-ray burner is about 700 bucks now, so goodbye free game downloads. another thing is that microsoft is gonna make all 360 games available for play on the pc. very very soon. check out the xbox360 controllers for pc...... if theyve already got those out, wont be too long before 360 games can be played on pc. xbox360 will have keyboard and mouse to make it seem like a computer, why do you think that is? because deep down, we all know pc gaming is best. keyboard and mouse wont help real time strategy games though. i would LOVE to see ps3 and xbox360 attempt to make a version of a game like..... company of heroes on their console. theyd be the laughing stock of the gaming world if they did that. theres a reason why they dont do it... they realize their system is not made for it. basically i would say buy a console if youre REALLY into fighting games or always play with friends. otherwise, go for the creme de la creme

well actually looking back at ur post now, i see what ur saying. You are slightly incorrect as it doest just have the one processor but its got 3 cores to it making it about the same as having 3 single cores. The ps3 on the other hand has what i think is an eleven or seven core processor called the cell processor. Ps3's processor is more powerfull than the 360's but is harder to program for and ps3 only has 256mb of ram whilst the 360 has 512mbs. Therefore the 360 has extra memory bandwidth and can shift more data per second than the ps3 so they both work out at about the same power.

First of all you guy all sound dumb because the 360 has 3 processors @ 3.2 ghz apeice. gpu at 500mhz the memory bandwidh is only 128bit with 512 mb memory vs ps3 256 bit bandwith 256 mb memory and pcs are always going to be better check out the 8800gtx wich is 3 to 4 times more powerful in terms of raw grapics power that the ps3 wich is only a shader model 3.0+ standard vs the 8800gtx shader model 4.0 direct x 10 standard and also 1080i is just and up scale image at a slower frame rate 720p is alot better and most compters can do that resolution with know probs.

You really dont no anything about pcs because you can buy or build a pc for the same price as the xbox360 or ps3 i build my first pc for 300 bucks and got me at the time a high end video card on ebay for 70 bucks a x850xt pcie. and was able to max out the graphics on all my games wich looked a lot better tha t the xboxes, and consles may be cheaper but buy the time you buy accesories and game wich go for 60 bucks a pop you could wind up spending the money it takes you to build a very high end pc my father in law waisted a 1000 bucks on the xbox 360 the first week he had the thing. if do yor self a favor and get yourself a goog pc you dont have to buy games you can download them from certain internet sites if you know how to use the net properly. so the verdict pcs will allways kick a consle ass.

I've played Halo: CE on a high end machine. Aside from pretty graphics and couple of new features, The original Xbox version is Superior. The X box version feels more real whereas the impact of the PC version is a bit watered down. I'm just sayin'...

What consoles have over any pc is the operating system, in a pc youve got all this crap running in the background which eats up your memory and computing power, in a console there none or at least next to nothing, take the playstation two for example it has a 333mhz motorola cpu and 32mb of ram but it ran most of the latest games just as well as a pc up until a few years ago. So if you take the xbox 360s 3 core cpu running at 3.2 and 512 ram it does measure up quite easily, a dual processor dual core monster with 8 gigs of ram will eat a xbox but itll set you back 5000 grand minium.

There is no comparison between upgradable PC's and any consoles, PC's are far better. but when price is concerned PC's are ridiculous, every other month they come out with the latest and greatest component...for an average gamer the 360 is the way to go if you have tons of money and happen to be a 40 year old virgin then continue to upgrade your PC every year.

Ummm no they dont really, the hardware is all better or equal and its 100% devoted hardware, a standard xbox only has i think a 800 mhz celeron and 64 mb of ram maybe 128 and the video card is so so, but if u play the original version of farcry on a normal xbox it looks better then pc. so think of it, a new 360 (first generation of consoles to have stronger hardware then current pc's) with 100% devoted hardware will out perform a pc no problem.

These guys are just angry that Consoles are catching up and they just spent millions of dollars to play video games. I DOUBLE DOG DARE anyone to try and build a PC for $400 dollars that can beat the 360. If you spent thousands of dollars, then who's being unfair? Really, M$ has released something that is reasonably powerful and a fraction of the outlandish prices some of these guys pay because they want to over compensate. Not to say that I wouldn't spend thousands on the dual-core, dual-proccessor machine I want, But that is for work, to make money. If somebody came out with a machine that could do almost the same job for far less, I'd get that nstead.

The real fact is that the Xbox 360 has a triple core CPU, monster memory bandwith and the most up2 date GFX card drivers possible.
Pixel shader 3.0 has only just been released on the top end ATI cards and Nvidia have only been fiddling with it for a few months.
Until Pc game developers start to use pixel shader 3.0 and other new GFX developments on their games as a norm, nothing on the PC will look as good as the Xbox.
As pricing goes, you need to spend about £1,500 to get remotely close to the 360's £270 top notch performance.

Intel is due to release their Quad processor, based on two Core 2 Duo processors on one die. So in a sense, no we can't get a triple core PC processor, but we can get a quad core processor!!! Granted it's still a bit away (2007 release), but hey, once they're out, we got them.

Also, to get actually be able to view the high graphics quality of the 360, you need a decent HDTV right? Have any of you factored in the price of the HDTV to your $399? You still need a TV of some sort to view the output image from the 360, and to get the best image as you all want, you have to get a decent HDTV (anywhere from $600 to $3,600).

You should have compared Oblivion form the PC and from the XBOX 360. The PC version has way more detail in the environment than the xbox 360 has. But I think that this post was to show that a $399 XBOX 360 can keep up with a PC that will run you about $3,000. I feel that the XBOX 360 is better than Current PC at the moment, but of course. There will be upgrades to the PC to make it more powerful than the XBOX 360, but will cost lotsa money. That's why you shouldn't compared a console to a PC, because the PC can always be upgraded and top the consoles performance easily. PS3 vs. XBOX 360 is a more sensible comparison. :)

Most of you here are idiots. The point of this post was to say that the xbox 360 matched PRICE for PRICE FAAAAAR outways ANY pc you can get for $400. Think of it that way. Each x360 cpu is only twice the power of the original xbox(according to developers) so two of the 36s cores completly used is still only the same as a 3ghz p4 or 3000 athlon, and a dual core pc processor would kick the 360s ass.

man u dont know much it dosent add up like that in a first place, your probably one of those people that thinks if u combine four pentium 1's you will get a pentium 4. the 360 has 3 cores running at 3.2 ghz each buddy and there all gpu's.

I just finished upgrading my computer last weekend. I bought a 680i eVGA motherboard, Geforce 8800GTX, E6600 @ 3.4ghz, and a 23in monitor with 16ms. I play all my games at 1920 X 1200 all maxed and my system doesn't brake a sweat, even playing F.E.A.R and Oblivion. Before i bought upgraded my rig, I had the chance to buy the 360, but i did not own a HD T.V to take full advange of the xbox. You also cant go cheap on

The upgrade was just as much as a good HD TV not including the console itself around 2k. Im glad that I bought the upgrade because my new monitor looks better then any $2000 HD TV, and i never had as much fun playing on this computer then any console. I just cant wait till Crysis comes out with windows vista to take full advantage of my new rig.
