So you found yourself in a hotel room, and for some reason you JUST HAVE TO remove that cable from the wall, however it is protected by a cable lock. In this video, surbo shows how how to defeat these using a piece of toilet paper and the cable lock itself! (check out related link for more info)

    What is a cable lock? why do's this exist?
    Im from the netherlands and never saw anything like this....

      Prevents people from unscrewing the cable tv cord from the wall or back of tv at a hotel. They do this to prevent you from plugging in your own tv tuner and watching what other hotel guests have order via ondemand services. These are typically broadcast at channel 50 or higher and the tv in hotels have these channels locked out so you can't use their tv to watch unless the ondemand allows the tv to tune to that channel.

  • there is a tool to actually do this

    you can google a tool called the CATV Security Shield RG6 and RG59 .. i think it is made by a company called newelectronx. this can allow you to remove those stubborn cable locks faster. the tool is only about 4 bucks or so. i got mine with free shipping. it is very small so i pack it in my suit case when traveling and use it at will. no more cable locks ;) btw great tutorial if you can't afford 4 bucks. :)
