  • It aint like the real thing!!

or close to it. I lived in Brasil for a while in Rio de Janeiro and when thos capoeiristas start really going i mean it gets super fast. and well i would have to say that they could hold their own in combat!

  • I have yet to be impressed

by capoiera. I know theres some impressive bits out there but i havent seen them yet. its all this stupid media bias i can never get anything other than boxing or taekwondoh or karate on this stupid server. . .

the only capoiera i get here is a bit whitewashed.

the fighters here are whitewashed also. i saw this guy try to do capoiera against a karateka, and the karateka jsut stood there, and the other dude was spinning and kicking and doing all this cool shit before the fight, and it looked professional enough. Then the fight started. the capoiera dude was out in one move, cus the karateka jsut stood in place, caught his first kick, and popped his ankle.

i have yet to see capoiera used as an efficient martial art.

  • Salseiro

Capoeira was created by brazilian slaves for help them to get out of the "senzala" (senzala was the name of the "house" of slaves)...
They used capoeira for knockout the guards and run away...
the traing looks like a dance cuz they have to disfarce the art of the guards...
Capoeira is diferent them other arts, becouse the capoeiristas have to use the art against fire guns... and i belive, the fire guns are so much more mortal them any marcial art...
So, capoeira is an full marcial art... this art have fundaments, estructure and powerfull kicks and can defeat any art in the world, just depend of the stundent pratice hard... Oh... before i forget, capoeira don't wins tournaments becouse in the tournaments are rules who don't let the fighter hit the head of the opponent
and the kicks of capoeira are used for hit the head...

I'm a brazilian i live i Rio de Janeiro i pratice the art and... forgive for the "rude" inglish

  • Still is not the real thing...

This type of capoeira is the result of a mixture of gimnastics, acrobacy, taekwondo kicks and some other martial arts, PLUS an original CAPOEIRA ANGOLA, created by the slaves in the XVI century, which would be the REAL Capoeira, since is the one that gave all the historic fundamentals to what we see on this video. Capoeira Angola survived the time of slavery because it didn`t show it self as a Martial art, but a sort of a dance. It has cadence, rithm and can`t exist without music and without a partner. Sharing it was the key to its survival.

  • Not Choreographed.

Not at all, these guys are just good enough to know where to go to not get hit. This happens all the time in my classes, it's cool enough to look choreographed but it isn't.

  • I would like to see...

A Capoeira student in combat. Against another Capoeira Practicioner and against other styles too. Capoeira is excellent if you want to get better kicks and jumps. Extreme kicks contests looks like advanced Capoeira. And I would practice Capoeira but I really hate that music. When I try too learn, the teacher maked me song and play the Birimbao (an instrument), and I told him that I just wanted to learn about kicks and jumps, but he told me that is important the music too. I swear, I tried. But I couldn`t. I hate that music and that lyrics . Nope! I love martial arts, but not because that I`ll sing chinese opera or make up myself as a Kabuki actor.

  • Well choreographed?

I think not. Capoeira is rarely ever choreographed, we simply learn to avoid each others kicks.

  • the one thing i like about this

martial art is that it's unpredictable, and simple at that. I'm not saying the moves are simple, but it's simple to be unpredictable with it
