This is a short guide on how to construct a pneumatic potato cannon. These things are capable of shooting straight through walls and windows quite easily. Be careful.
Shopping list: Two pieces of 2" PVC Pipe (any length), One 2" PVC Valve (not threaded), One 2" PVC end cap, and One bicycle tire pump valve also PVC primer and PVC cement

    I just don't want anyone doing something stupid and getting hurt. One if my friends broke his ribs with one. It was pumped up to 100 PSI. 30 PSI is enough to shoot a mini nerf ball 100 yards (tried it on a football field, it flew across the whole field).

  • not very good

    I have build potatoe cannons with way more power than this! Mordemor's version is even sissy compared to the ones i have built. I made one like a T shape and it had a nice big chamber with a pressure guage build into and a better stem than one used at off of a bicycle chamber. I had that thing well over 100 psi and extended the barrel to over 20 feet and shot a potatoe straight up in the air and it had about 19 seconds of hangtime also did the same thing with it pointed at a metal barrel and it shot the potatoe straight through it. Needless to say there was no potato afterwards and it took two people to hold the monster.

    I built mine 3x as big and shot an amazing 2250 yards. I also shot it at my annoying neighbors newly-built pre-cast wall and blew it to pieces as well as hishouse wall, (it went through it), ha, ha. Thanks Guys.

    Im gonna go out to my shop and start building a AA-Spud gun, fully automatic of course... Or perhaps a gatling spud gun... :D
    600 rounds per minute or so should do it, don't you think? ^^

    no offense but instead of a bike tire valve put a spark plug with a button that produces a spark like one off of a grill then instead of haveing the lever to release the air have nothing just have a longer pipe then spray some accelerant into the pipe shove a potato in tight and then aim and lick on the button of the spark plug thing ad boom it will propell the potatoe extremely fast fast enough to (if you shot it at a tree) to peel the bark all the way around have fun be fricken carful because this way can seriously kill somone if it hits them but have fun

      potato cannons are more powerful. It just depends on how you build it, the amount of pressure that is inside, and how fast the valve is opened. Also, using a smaller barrel and a larger combustion "tank" will make the cannon shoot faster.
