It isn't shallow water. Special tires and high speeds allow the the car to skip across the water. However, it is dumb how so many people are standing so close.

That's how people learn I guess. That could of easily been a disaster. This guy and everybody there will be back every year to do it again till some poor kid gets killed by the guy. All he'll be able to say is, " I couldn't stop, the steering didn't work, " Well no S**t nimrod your hydroplaning at speed in a race vehicle! I just hope no one gets hurt

- it doesnt matter how deep it is
if you go fast enough you can skip accross water on anything!! it is hydroplaning ...you can do it on atv's, three wheelers, snowmobiles and even dirtbikes ...and obviously these crazy trucks!! you just need to keep the revs high and the tires spinnin real fast.

yes the water can be very deed and swallow the bogger, the speed muct be maintained or you will lose points and time, you can get right muddy doing this any time of the day.. The have events and when it started back in the late 60's it world be on TV sports shows. This one has rather small tires, normally they are a bit wider and most have deep rubber cleats that angle across the surface of the wheels. They are Very noisey too.

are used in a yearly cometition, i forget the name but they have to hydroplane go up a wall of dirt and other off roading events, they use nitrous too.

There is an actual 4x4 competition and the car has 800 horse power. Hydroplaning over water is one of the tests. There is another where the car has to go up a wall.

With a reasonable head start, you can end up skip across 2 miles worth of lake. Never lost one myself but I've seen guys come home without their snowmobile.

its not shallow water, its just big engine and special tyres. they used to be a land race in iceland and someone decided to take one on the water and see what would happen, it goes on the surface because the wheels are spinning fast (i don't understand the physics of it) now there's races on water in iceland aswell as on land. it's not fake though.
