I prove that a triangle, be definition, can have a maximum of 270 degrees even though it is taught all around the world that a triangle has a maximum of 180 degrees and one right angle. when i figured this out in 6th grade, i didnt think much of it. but now i find out that this proof has already ben proved.

you know, this is called non-euclidian geometry, and there are two theories, one that seesthe geometry drawed in a sphere, and the otherone in an hiperbole, and these are then parabolyc and hyperbolyc geometry...
but, cool you find out in 6th grade... hope you do some money

    • Bolyai geometry

Well there aren't only 2 theories(the hyperbolic space invented by Bolyai Janos is about something else),you can create a coordinate system on whatever surface(read differential geometry)you want! You're not right about the 270 degrees, but whatever!!congrats to thinking about thing like that in the 6th grade!!

Its a good try but actually if you took that triangle from the basketball and opened it up (it would be curved because of the spherical shape) it would actually turn out to be 180 degrees total

Also, a triangle can be drawn on paper. If you try to draw this on paper, then you would either realize that you have created a three-dimensional figure, or that the sides are not straight.

  • Fail...

Like others have said, this is Non-Euclidian Geometry, which is not recognized by most schools, universities, and enterprises. The definition given of the triangle was limited, the real definition is: A triangle is a three sided figure with straight line that DO NOT CURVE, and has angles adding up to 180 degrees. Therefore, this figure you created is not a triangle. It is a chunk of a sphere (which you have proven with the basketball), which is a three-dimensional figure, not a triangle.
