  • Battery power?

I'm interested in trying your setup, but with a battery pack. Can you help me understand what I'd need to do to adapt it? Is it as simple as taping 8 AA batteries together? I'm usually on foot when I'm photographing, and I know almost nothing about this type of electronics unfortunately, but I'm anxious to learn. In the past I've simply carried chemical hand warmer heat packs, but you can't turn them off and on to conserve power, so it gets very expensive. Thanks!

    • expensive?

assuming that you use non reusable hand warmers try getting some of the reuseable ones

    • of course it should work.

You can use NiCd batteries connected together (plus of one to minus of the next one, etc), You should not use NiMH batteries because the heater needs some amount of power, and the NiMH are not designed to supply high current. Check out my website, maybe You will find there some answers.

  • Great tip

I've always had trouble with moisture collecting on and around my lense at night and early morning... I wanted to control this because, while some "dotted" photos turn out cool, I wanted to control if there were water spots or not. (and I do have a handy squirt mister filled with distilled water for that very thing.

You not only explained this almost well enough for the electricity impaired (aka me) to make my own lens header. Thank you!!
