These services are opening ports on your computer waiting for responces from other progams used on the internet. If the wrong person wants to access your computer, all they have to do is use one of these services to get in. So, close them until you need them.

I use a lot of those things you're talking about without even knowing why I can. Doh! Because they are enabled. You need to add a footnote here, and ask people to analyze their usage of these services before they go disabling these services.

I have only included servicesw that are safe to change. Their are more services you can change depending on the programs installed on your machine, but if you are unsure of what they are, don't change 'em.

    Hi there,

My laptop used to work fine after I had someone disable some kind of set task that meant loads of system (I think files were not kept saved on my laptop... somehow each time I would restart it would wipe off files that are usually stored that take up loads of memory...

Recently I broke the screen and damaged the motherboard and had to send back to sony who put a new HD in and sent it back to me... now I have like 16MB left on memory and the whole thing is driving me crazy!

I can't remember where to go on the computer to free up the memory like before - and in the programs bit, there isn't 23G worth of programs there anyway, seems the files/memory absorbing features are somewhere else.

    Can anyone help!?

For some reason (maybe memory) I can only play the first few seconds of your video... so I can't see which to disable on services either - very frustrating!

    • I agree...

However I do like the fact that this person is responding to comments and not just putting it out there, I think this information should be used only by people who really understand their computers.

If your computer already runs fine you might not notice a difference, but if i truns like a wounded bear you will notice an improvement in performance.
