  • Both are great choices

First off, I used to work at MTV and we interviewed Les Stroud during a snow storm (in Toronto Canada). He then told us it was too cold outside to conduct the interview, so we brought him indoors and put him in front of a green-screen where we later put lightning storms and volcanic eruptions behind him. It wasn't that cold.

Secondly, Bear Grylls has climbed Mount Everest and currently holds world records. Yes, he does use a camera crew, but that's only because he cannot simply set up some cameras and hang out. He is moving around and giving practical advice.

Both shows have teams behind the camera. It's all part of working in television. There are rules that must be followed or the show can't legally ask it's sponsors for funding. An example would be meal penalties if the talent hasn't been supplied a warm meal every six hours. The fees charged would be tremendous.

These shows are meant for entertainment purposes only - mainly appealing to the outdoorsy adventurous demographic.

  • Survivorman

As if survivorman actually has a crew right there he's hiding. Get real. If you can't tell just by the kind of guy he is then how about the fact that he enjoys this and couldn't be bothered trying to fake it. And for the other comment. Bear is not about "trying to get out quick", he's about extreme sports and uses survival as an excuse to scale rock walls and drink his own urine (or at least pretend to I suspect). I've seen him before doing other stuff and it's obvious that he gets off on risking his life. He's the last person that should be teaching anyone about how to survive. If you've never actually been in a situation where you are completely isolated in the wilderness and have to actually be careful what you do because there is no way you're getting to a hospital if something bad happens then you will never understand.

omg, ive seen like 10 of these videos comparing these 2 shows.. ive seen every episode of both and personally i would choose bear to be stranded with.
and they are 2 totaly diff shows. man vs wild is more trying to get out as soon as you can, and survivorman is more camp.. wait for saving... camp... find food.. blah blah blah.
and the videos that say bear is a hoax. like with the lava feild thing that was right by the high way.. THEY ARE SHOWING A DAMN EXAMPLE OF WHAT YOU WOULD COME ACROSS IN THE WILD

  • Right on

I never understood why Man vs Wild seems to get more air time.. Survivorman gives you much more information you could actually USE. If you ran around climbing this, jumping over that, swiming through this like the other guy constantly does, you'd be exhausted and probably injured.

  • What have you got to hide?

I commented but got deleted, what have you got to hide?? both way workd, and both shows are fake, how can you prove Survivorman doesnt have his crew a few yards away with him but just out of the view of the cameras????
