it's a very volatile fuel (means it evaporates easily) the vapour is flamable. the retard used so much of it that the vapour was probably hanging in the air. once again, words cannot express how retarded the retard is.516737 - 1

I lived in the country growing up. We start like all our bonfires wtih gas usally a few gallons and they make a fire ball but I have never seen one blow up like that.

used diesel fuel it doesnt have the fumes that gasoline has and is not as explosive, plus it burns slower but hotter. so what if it stinks for a while..

use kerosene but gas is more fun. I used to use gas for mine you just need a longer trail. Oh ya and don't stack the wood like that.

is a flammable liguid, it has a low flash point, but what a lot of people don't realize is that the liguid part of gas is not flammable it is the fumes that it gives off. It is also heavier than air, so when he was pouring it on the wood pile, the fumes where collecting around the bottom of the pile. So all the fumes needed was some dumb ass to give it a kick start and boom!, one less red neck.
