Graphical 3D Multiplication Trick
- Extra steps needed for some calculations
Try 99 x 99... the numbers at the bottom of the 'box' will be 81, 162, 81...

So, use the 1 at far right, add the 8+2 to get 10. Use the 0 for the second number from the right, carry the 1 to the left and add it to the 16 + 1 = 18. Use the 8 for the third number from the right.
Carry the 1 to the left: 1+8=9. Use that for the fourth number from the right...
Answer: 9801
Any numbers at bottom of 'box' which add up to greater than 9, you will have to do this. Not very fast, but interesting - if you were on a desert island and had lots of time and sand to draw on... How does this work multiplying numbers larger than 2 digits?6420787- 0

That's one way to do it but I'm sure there's a shorter way. That's just a complicated way but it works quite well and doesn't leave much room for a mistake.
