    Why don't you explain how Dow Jones is artificially updated, eliminating the "bad" companies and substituting them with new "good" companies?

      The Dow has been rebalanced many times going back many decades... It is just a representative sample of the US / World markets... If the market is bearish even good companies will be under the influence of market forces...
      At any rate the Dow, NASDAQ, SPX (and AMEX) all move in sync (the degree might differ but they move in sync)...
      This eliminates the notion that the Dow might do (and will do - just watch the tape) well because of some manipulation...
      The economy is always changing and the Dow keepers are smart to acknowledge that...
