STS-118 Endeavour Landing
No Engines are used when the Shuttle returns to Earth, it is maybe the Worlds
most Expensive and Technical Glider ever Built.
At the end of the clip, the camera focused on what appeared to be, or looked like a tear in the metal. Is that what it was, and why focus on it???
Other than that, it was cool to watch from that view. Thanks.
That was the tile damage caused by the foam debris from the External Fuel Tank that hit the belly of the orbiter during launch on august 8...That's how they lost space shuttle Columbia on re-entry 2003...Tile Damage. However NASA predicted that this particular damage on STS-118 does not pose a threat to shuttle and crew...So it was 'Go' for landing. No tile repair in orbit was necessary.
