    to take this comment. Did he just realize the danger at that particular moment? Why did'nt he do something earlier when he could have made a difference?

    • It wasn't until right after...

      his time in office that Vietnam and all the other "police actions" that have happened since grew out of what he was warning us COULD happen. Eisenhower did everything he could to prevent, under much pressure not to prevent by a large percentage of generals, war during his time in office. He knew that what was rapidly growing could be used wrongly if we didn't wake up and become "an informed citizenry".
