Despite how magnificient the stars are in space, there is never star on any picture from the Apollo missions. Why, if these missions are not staged? This is a part from movie "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Moon".

I'm guessing that geeker is the original poster, but in any case, this is getting ridiculous. What's with you people? Don't you have anything better to do than disparage the marvelous achievement of thousands of talented and dedicated people? Do you think people like Alex Jones and Bart Sibrel are actually *experts* on this subject?
See if you can follow this. Even if the human eye was able to see things over a wide range of exposures, this doesn't have ANYTHING to do with photographs. If you're looking away from sunlit objects in space, you will see stars. That's probably what Chawla was doing. NASA's argument would be that cameras and eyes can't be compared that way. They would be right. The argument works. And YOU think they found it easier to murder astronauts! Take a pill.
You guys are completely ignorant about this stuff. The surface of the moon and the objects being photographed are far too bright for a camera to pick up stars. I've taught photography. I've done astro-photography. You haven't. How do I know that? Figure it out.

  • Why don't stars appear in any of the pho...

Because even on the moon the relative brightness of the sun would totally overpower them. duhhhh! The same reason you don't see them on earth during the daytime. They are still shining here but sunlight totally wipes them out. With the optics pointed away from the moon there is no atmosphere to put any background light, but if you were on the surface your eyes would be adapted to daytime light and the stars would be to faint relatively for your eyes to see them.

alas! if only you had understood physics well. never mind, for your info, the cameras and camcorders may work on strict exposure settings, but biological eyes can very well adapt to the dark and the light, and the bright, at short notice. the reason you don't see stars during daytime on the earth is because your eyes see the diffracted blue color of the sunlight all over reflected to your eyes by the particulate atmosphere. so the diffracted blue-indigo-violet color range are hundreds of times brighter than starlight coming through to the eyes. as simple as that.

you can see stars during dusk or dawn with about 1:100 sunlight:darkness. still if your argument was true, then even the 1% sunlight would be enough to wipe out the stars as you claim.

nevertheless, on the moon, with no atmosphere to cause sunlight diffraction, there WOULD be NO reflections of sunlight to your eyes. the moon's albedo or reflectivity is a measly 7%. so on the moon whether you face away from the sun or look overhead in full sunlight, your eyes WILL still ADAPT to starlight. (BECAUSE and you'd see billions of bright, magnificent stars.

at least, you could have argued on scientific grounds. simply saying "sun will overpower...or sunlight wipes them..." does not even befit layman explanation.

oh, by the way, just scourge nasa site, esp, the shuttle voyages. you'd find numerus

contd... (BECAUSE YOU WON'T BE FOOLISH ENOUGH TO LOOK AT THE SUN DIRECT!) and if you'd care to see a17 video footage of schmitt filming the moon all over the surface, you'd see that he had dropped the gold visor and his face shows up behind the glass visor clearly. whereas nasa had strict instructions to the astronauts not to lift their gold visors and expose their faces and eyes to cosmic radiation. (NOT UV, READ AGAIN, COSMIC RAD!)

do you still believe nasa could manage perfect landings on the moon without having any lunar lander actually tested at all? and why does nasa now plans to send unmanned crash-landers to the moon when they'd already perfected soft landings with live astronauts?

the truth is out there, my friend. it's just that we don't open our minds and let our heart do the thinking. i strongly believed the moon landings. that's the sole reason i got affinity toward amateur astronomical studies. thankfully, having a solid physics base, and over time, having gained much knowledge about the universe, i can analyze what's going on out there. contd...

contd... what do you think caused the 2003 columbia explosion? do you think nasa is stupid to have not seen a piece of foam fall out onto the heat-shield, and tell the astronauts about it, to get going an EVA so that they can replace the tile in orbit? or did nasa deliberately avoid repair? what were nasa's intentions? if you investigate a little bit, you'd discover that the columbia crew were told about the tile damage but nasa lied to them, telling them that it's nothing to worry about since on many previus missions, tile damages have occurred! tell me nasa, on which of your missions, prior to columbia, have tile damages, or damage, occurred?

by the way, if you hear what kalpana chawla had told her husband and laurel clark had told her brother dan salton, you'd be amazed just to what extent nasa can stoop (to the level of outright murder) to save their faces of having lied to the world about their "moon missions"! both these girls mentioned having seen stars in the sky all the time during their orbit. and mind you, nasa could have carried on with the heat shield repairs "in-orbit", but they deliberately misguided the astronauts and avoided the repairs.

do you smell rat? you tell me why did nasa murder these innocent astronauts, just because they spoke about being able to see (not with camera but with their eyes) stars in space.
