  • WARNING!! Be very careful.

    You could be splitting water molecules into HHO GAS or better known as Browns Gas. Direct Current (DC) is used in most electrolysis because it provides a single path from negative (-) to positive ( ), making it easy to isolate oxygen from hydrogen. However, Alternating Current (AC- in your home outlet) Doesn't behave like DC because, like its name suggest, it "alternates" from (-) to ( ) and then back to (-) on each of the prongs. As long as there is a flow of electrons regardless of its direction hydrogen can be split from oxygen. The bubbles you see aren't water vapor but hho gas which is extremely explosive. Do not do this anymore!

      I used to do this all the time..but instead used aluminum foil. Its cheaper. And it doesnt really product alot of hydrogen in 2 minutes so its practically harmless. Hydrogen alone makes a loud pop sound when its by itself with no air...and when mixed with air it will explode. I have not other seperated them..played with them and made the hydrogen pop and the air side relight a match that went out. Gotta love chemistry!.

      Stopspazzing, who's spazzing sir? Obviously this guy is selling this as a boiler and not an explosion waiting to happen. Its harmless until someone is fatally fried or fills their house with a dangerous gas without knowing it. This is my spaz sir, for those who do not know enough, maybe they should educate themselves. For you and I, we know what is too much and we know where the thin line between fun and havoc is and we should exercise this knowledge, it is our duty. I see where the fun is, but sadly our video producer doesn't. Totally clueless.Where does that leave the rest of the audience? Is it ok if one person out of a million dies or is mamed by a simple act? When we can prevent it. Forgive me as I spaz.

There are tons more dangerous things out there in the world and you are worried about people getting hurt cause of stupidity and lack of knowledge?     it splits water into H2 and O2 ( 2 H2s for each O2) instead of boiling the water, don't hold a match above the jar unless you want to see an explosion.

      just because AC can't be used effectively for electrolysis (seperating and ISOLATING specific elements from a compound) doesn't mean that it won't split water into H2 and O, which will then combine into O2.

      Still, mixing sharp razor blades, high power AC, exposed wires and electrodes, and water does not seem to be a very safe experiment.

      the proper machine for doing this is called the hoffman apparatus. and to answer the questions about it should be O2 + H, elements in a gas state is going to be H2. which is hydrogen gas. the hoffman apparatus will actually split the oxygen and hydrogen so u can see how much is produced. and oxygen is twice as much as hydrogen, but to form gas, two hydrogen molecules have to be present.

      hydrogen is twice as much as oxygen because in water the hydrogen:oxygen ratio is 2:1 and both being diatomic molecules they will naturally form into H2 and O2, thus 2 H2s for each O2.
      due to the ideal gas laws, the same amount of particles at the seme tempreture and pressure take up the same amount of space no matter what the particles are.

    the regular heater is actually a big resistor, that heats up when electricity passes through it, this is passed on to the water. now this device works differently and i believe the edges of the blades will turn rusty if you hold them to much inside. so i don't think the water is drinkable after you used this device

    i bought the razors for 2 pounds..i didnt have a plug with a lead on so i used my dvd player lead..that was 100 pounds..used a piece of wire from my playstaion that was 200 pounds..luckily i found a jar and i borrowed 2 matches..then i realised i had a kettle in my kitchen..DOH !!!

    Where is this happening? i seem to be in a european country or Autralia, hwere they use 220v, threfore there is no swtiching between - and both are . the normal voltage in the US is 120V where you have Neutral(-) and Hot ( ) in AC current thre is not, atually, - or , those diffeences in polarity only happens in DC.     .. to replace the old portable water boilers. I made one like that when i was a kid. The only thing i did differently was placing two matches flat between the blades and using cotton strings to tie it all up. The space between the blades was less than in the vid, and it could boil a glass of cold water in about 40 seconds...
