  • so..

i tried this using the exact same method you demonstrated here. although the light was clearly visible when i pointed the flashlight directly at the camera, there was hardly any visible light when i pointed it elsewhere. do you need a special kind of flashlight? celophane? help please.

  • One Problem

I think the light coming from the camera's lcd might be pretty bright if its real dark out, but cool idea, just needs some modifications. keep it up

    • A couple little things

Right, the camera I used actually had the screen inside of an eye-piece which was perfect for keeping things dark.
Truth be told, the body of the flashlight actually glowed a little bit -duct tape could take care of that quickly enough.

  • question

i have a jvc hd7 camera and i have a remote that had inferred led so if i got a lot of them would it work as a light even tho my camera dose not have night mode

    By =DAZZA= 1231768535
  • I couldn't get it to work.

My camera (Canon S3 IS) can pick up IR (I have tested it with my TV remote), but when I do this to my flashlight, it doesn't pick up anything. Have I done something wrong?

    By yeahitsscotts 1228186092
  • Works Great!!!

I cut out all the circles and put them in a small black film container and all i do is slide it on the front of my flashlight, works great with my infrared webcam

  • funditor you are so lucky

getting a coment from kipkay, great idea 5*

    By the godfather 005 1188325636
  • bunkum

used only red and green cellophane. what you are seeing is actually blue light photo not infrared

    By grouch2 1220062228
    • Actually no...

The light from a light bulb gives visible light but also ultraviolet and infrared light which are not visible to the naked eye. The filter which acts like an infrared pass filter blocks the ultraviolet and blue visible light so just the "invisible" infrared light passes through. So the "invisible" light that the camera can see is actually infrared.

      By abc_god 1220488632
  • Hmm, stupid?

Or you could just use the damn flashlight.

    By Russ K 1195207542
  • sorry but

you could just skip the part about putting the colored cellophane in to block the flashlight. Just turn the flashlight on with the clear lens and you'll have "night vision," without the use of a camera too.

    By RealBoingo 1193873030
    • Well...

the cool part about this is the fact that it is invisible to the naked eye, allowing you to see what others can't.

      By Omfgpie 1201148590
  • What would happen if...

i combined the flashlight from this video with the goggles from kipkay's infared goggle video

    By couchyboy93 1188773938
    • Sadly

Nothing would happen. Kipkay's goggles allow you to view light close to the infrared spectrum, but they don't show what's not already visible to the eye..
