Louisiana Family Recovery Corps Outlines Plans For Distribution

The Louisiana Family Recovery Corps will begin accepting requests for proposals at 9:38 a.m. CDT on Aug. 29, 2007, to allow Louisiana-based non-profit organizations to apply for access to more than $7 million in funds designated to assist Hurricane Katrina and Rita survivors with household establishment needs.

Approximately $5 million will be allocated for hurricane-impacted households in Louisiana and approximately $2 million more will be allocated for households still residing in FEMA trailers in group settings.

In addition, the organization will invest about $1 million in the Recovery Corps' NOLA Bound Call Center to assist displaced survivors who still reside outside of Louisiana but want to come back to live and work.

The Louisiana Family Recovery Corps, a non-profit 501c3 organization based in Baton Rouge, La., was formed in the wake of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. Through contractual arrangements with case management organizations and other non-profit organizations, the organization has assisted more than 25,000 hurricane-affected households with recovery planning, housing, children's services and emotional well-being needs since January 2006.
