I tried it, decided to go farther. I used 2 types of paint thining oils and some water. This didn't work well at first, was using a 100 W bulb, so lowered the W and put metal screen in the mix to heat up. Now just need to know what it would do with the original soap. BTW, DON'T TRY THE OIL, IT'S UNSAFE. I HAVE A SPECIFIC AREA FOR THE MAKE IT AND BREAK IT IN MY OFFICE, now equipt with smoked glass and ceilings.......

Unsafe!
You have a jar of liquid balanced on a narrow base. In California that is very earthquake-unsafe -- but anywhere on earth, if a toddler jostles the table, that jar is going to topple and smash. If it doesn't break but falls on the kid's head, ouch; if it does break, you have broken glass and slippery water on the floor. If the base tips over you expose a hot bulb to splashes of cold water. And so on.

Nobody should make this device.

  Any lava lamp, or a light bulb, or a jar of pickles for that matter. This is just a suggestion, not a rule, and people can build it as easy or as complex as they wish and make it as safe as anything can be. But I do appreciate your comment!
