  • Great video

i love gardening and this is one of the best i seen.. well done gonna try and make one... anyway is using other coloured lights ok?

    By umario 1190655857
    • Absolutely!

Blue tinted lights are primarily for inducing rapid growth, while red is used for getting plants to flower or to develop the fruit. Commercial greenhouses use clored lights for that very purpose.

  • I've been gardening for years...

...and this makes so much sense, I'm going to build this and use it to germinate my seeds this March. However, I think I'll convert a wall-wart into a USB power source to power the lights instead of running it off my computer. 5 *'s and dugg!

  • One problem....

You have a good idea and made a GREAT video...however there is one problem with your idea. One of the main reasons for using LED's is that they use very little energy to operate, but with your idea you are just diverting the extra energy to operate your computer all the time to keep the LED's lit, and research shows that computers sitting idle use a LOT of wasted energy. So even though your idea is a good way of making your own cheep LED greeenhouse in no way will it help with global warming....
