- Research really pays off
  For one thing, the space program gave us Tang!!!
  
  Actually it gave us polarized sunglasses, thermal blankets (like the emergency and camping varieties), improved cardio medicine, adult diapers, lithium batteries and a lot more. None of those may sound like a big deal but they represent billions of dolalrs worth of industry. I'd say NASA stimulated the economy.
