  • Explanation

    The explanation for this trick is purely mathematical. you deal 3 different sized piles (A,B,C) depending on the first card. you can determine the pile size from the first card by doing "14 - card #A = # in A". You also have have "remaining = 52 - # in A - # in B - # in C". we can merge the two formulas together to get " remaining = 52 - (14 - card#A) - (14 - card#C) - (14 - card#C)" which can be simplified to "remaining = 10 + card#A + card#B + card#C" since we were trying to find the first card of pile C we will isolate that giving us "remaining - 10 - card#A - card#B =card#C"
    this is exactly what happened in the video. they took the remaining cards and removed 10 cards and removed a number equel to card A and B and were left with the number on card C.
