WithDrawn 2012 (Child Sexual Abuse Poem)

Hi there, my name is Said Omar Muhammad and this is one of my poems. It is entitled 'WithDrawn.'

'WITHDRAWN' was written in response to the nature of sexual abuse of which is hidden for many reasons. I say hidden because a lot of abuse to children is from within those close to them. By this I mean family members.

You may ask yourselves why on earth would anyone within a family who was suspicious or aware of such abuse not report this to the Police or relevant Authorities. Maybe it is so abhorrent to consider that their mind becomes closed to the concept. Or worse still it could be because of Cultural reasons. It could be because of a Warp Sense of Family Honour and to Report such a thing could in their eyes bring shame to the family.

If it is a female child that is involved their Culture could place the blame upon the child. Again this is foolish and wicked reasoning. Also because of Religion one could hide the evil action of a family member (or Religious Leader), thinking that this may bring shame to the Religion/Church/Kingdom Hall/Masjid/Priest/Elder or Imam.

IS THIS ACCEPTABLE REASONING; MOST CERTAINLY NOT. SUCH REASONING SHOWS ONLY A PERSON WITH A PERVERTED VIEW OF FAMILY HONOUR/RESONSIBILITY AND ALSO A WARPED VIEW OF WHAT THEIR GOD WOULD EXPECT OF THEM.
