This works!
I just tried this trick today with a bunch of my friends at a party and it was an instant hit! I had never tried this trick before, and learned it from metacafe in seconds! My friends did not know what I was doing and I had them mesmerized for a while before I disclosed the trick.

This might be an old trick but it sure works wonders.

  What should you do if they draw a diamond (or a face card, a 2, a 4, or a 10, for that matter)? Just say that it doesn't work with that card?
  
  And what if THEY try to put it in upside-down, after you've flipped it? then you're screwed.

Easier way to do this trick.
When the person picks the card, look at the bottom card in the deck when he is looking at his card. Then when he puts the card back on the deck, shuffle from the bottom so that the card you looked at is on top of his card. Then when you look through the deck it'll be the card next to the one you looked at that is his card.

Sorry, but that's pretty lame.
Seriously.. the idea of a magic trick is to do something that no one can figure out how you did it. When you have to flip the cards toward yourself, rifle through them, then pick out the 3 of hearts... we may not know exactly HOW you marked the card we put back in, but its obvious that you simply marked it somehow. That's uber-weak. You fail at magic!

  you have to choose the asymmetric cards beforehand. People often try to relate the odd numbers of cards to some mathematical function algebraically/ arithmetically and fail to notice the pack of cards being turned geometrically.
