Attorney Gary Falkowitz of Parker Waichman explains how a certain device may be being misused by doctors.

Medtronic Infuse uses recombinant human bone morphogenic protein to initiate bone growth. This can be useful in procedures like back surgery to fuse vertebrae in the back and promote growth of new bone in the spine. It replaces the need to harvest and use bone from the patient’s own body.

Problems arise when Medtronic Infuse is used off-label – for procedures not yet approved by the Food and Drug Administration. One common off-label use is for procedures involving the neck. Reported complications for this off-label use include difficulty breathing, difficulty swallowing, male sterility and cancers.

To learn more about complications from off-label use of Medtronic Infuse, I encourage you to watch the video above and to explore our educational website at http://yourlawyer.com.
