These guys were bank robbers. They had been successfully robbing banks in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area for quite some time before they were caught. They were very aggressive during their robberies. They would storm into the bank and shoot the place up to get everyone good a scared so nobody would try to challenge them. The shootout in the video happened about a mile from my office.

Yeah they made a TV movie about that one. I was in the Peace Officers Acadamy when that happend. Thats what led to Police being allow to carry Semi-Automatic Rifles, because the police hit the robbers multiple times but it wouldnt penetrate their body armor. Alot of police now carry an m41a in addition to their 12 guage.

I lived less then a mile from the Bank of America when it happend. I was just a kid but I could remember the police going around the neighberhoods asking everyone to stay in their homes. The men were more obsessed with a shoot out with the cops then actually getting away, needless to say they changed how cops handle bank robbery's all around the nation. Now cops carry M-16's because of there lack of fire power.

Both my sons are cops. The one in KC, MO sopped a car full of bangers on an off ramp and called for back up and told them to remain in the car. They waited, until they realized what my son was waiting for and all 4 bailed. He chased down and caught 2 and when he put them in the back of his squad car he went to look into their car and on the front seat was a fully loaded, cocked shot gun. Had he approached the car alone this would be a different story. His back up caught the other 2.

I am surprised that they did not radio for the Texas Highway Patrol to assist in taking them out. The troopers would have shot the tires out on the suburban and rammed them, or would have gotten a sniper on the bridge to take them out.

No one was hit, but the police cruiser was disabled buy the gunfire. The suspects actually got away during the chase because they were shooting at everything. They were caught a few days later. I think, if I remember right.. they were pretty young and one of them turned himself in after his dad told him to.

Those guys did what they did in a attempt to get away. They each got sentenced 67 years in a Federal Prison for robbing the banks and multiple counts of attempted Capital Murder. They further shot up more police cars. Both Plano PD and Richardson PD police cars.
