I think, if you have a camera as nice as the one you are using, Comcast or a Dish receiver shouldn't kill ya? Or even basic cable? - I can get about 80 channels on basic.

1.SATELITE/ANTENNA/CABLE all outdated, and for 10 dollars in material you can go ahead and subscribe to netflix for $8 a month and stream S**t for free (tv shows including HBO all that) and you constantly have dvds mailed to you and get new ones when you send your previously watched one back... so .. get a vga to cable converter like $2 or RCA whatever u want,, and get netflix

and back to Linux.. yeah its great and smooth untill you need a program only supported by Windows or MAC lol.. Windows is easy and mines smooth as S**t cause I have the brains to maintain it. Linuxcouldnt handle the programs I was using so I suppose thats why its freeware lol and not for people who do more than check email and write shitty comments that doesnt involve the video at all (just because they want to seem a rebel) Google Torrenting

Seriously, I do recycling. Get my hands really filthy dirty going through other people's trash to get out stuff that is a) worth money and b) toxic and doesn't belong in my drinking water or that of my neighbors. Like the metals typically found in computer parts.
Since none of the Great Capitalist Whore-Lords offer any kind of real service recycling their Luxury Sh*t once it becomes last years Luxury Sh*t and I know a whole bunch of people, good people who just aren't rich or anywhere near rich, who want to be able to use the technology that's supposed to be our ticket out of poverty. And I refurbish these computers, sometimes it is a loose memory stick, but you know the biggest part? Winblows. Yep, microsux has given me, inadvertently, hundreds of free computers simply because their "operating" system S**ks so badly that the target market for it, people who don't want to learn how to hack, and are told by the Marketing Gurus that Linux and command-line repairs of Windows are "too complex and only geeks would know how to use them", do what comes naturally when you depend on some mega-corporation to make all your decisions for you... they let the OS and the software team up to destroy the functionality of their computer. Enter THE WORLDS SMARTEST RAGPICKER, your humble narrator, and the Linux Operating System. I repair the damage that Windows did to itself, using Linux tools and some Microsoft compatible tools.

Then I install a user friendly version of Linux, usually TeenPup, on top of the repaired Windows partition. And sell it for less than a day's pay of Common Labor.

Even if it took me more than a day to do it. Usually doesn't but some cases are, well, Special. I also advise the friends/who/are/clients to not use the Windows on the internet. Too many people who learned how to hack their OWN hardware have found out that they can use the network to hack Other Peoples Computers and Windows just makes it easy.

As it works out, I get more friends than money which, I'll see at least some of my friends when I get to heaven and exactly none of the money. Me Likey Very Much Goodly. Now, THAT'S an investment plan worth considering. Incidentally, there's a freeware for Linux which has a shareware version that works with Windows called Kaffeine. A front-end for the gxine multimedia engine. Works better than any of the Media Players microsux sells you as an add on to the "operating" system you already bought.
Now, to bring it back to digital teevee, there's probably already an app in Linux for that, as in, people are throwing back the DTV boxes and I see them in thrift stores already. I'd have to first get interested in television and then hunt down the software, but I'd just bet there's some firmware modifications already made. It's worth a try and if people can get rid of the Cable Monkey or, perhaps, do to Comcast what Linux did to Windows, force them into a marketing compromise based on the availability of technology beyond the control of Comcast...
