Static test of my homemade solid rocket fuel H-Class motor. I used a potassium nitrate/sugar fuel based on Jimmy Yawn's work. The rocket was fired on a homemade thrust scale. The scale is maxed out by 70lbs, but the motor clearly exceeds that. I'm currently working on an airframe to hold the motor. The motor was constructed of steel gas pipe and is very heavy, but we'll see how she flies someday.....maybe......

  • So...

Can that be adjusted to give a longer burn???

  • a little more

about it would be nice , maybe how it was built.and what its uses might be

    • sorry about that

I guess it is a little vague, but it was just supposed to be a test of the motor. Maybe someday ill post a vid explaining how to make the engine and cook the fuel......ah well, someday i guess.

    • longer burn time

      @ instgtr

Thanks for the comment! Yes, adjusting various factors would increase burn time of the motor, but the object of this design was to provide a short, high thrust output burn. The main reason for the short burn time(1-2s), is the shape that I molded my homemade propellant. It is a large, solid cylinder with a cylindrical hole down the middle. This is called a rod and tube configuration. It was designed to ignite and burn almost simultaneously.
