Attorney James Kapralos of Parker Waichman talks about unexplained nursing home injuries and deaths.
We once represented a client who had a mother in a nursing home. Our client was an elderly person as well and this allowed the nursing home to take advantage of their family.
Our client was told his mother simply died of old age, because she was “old and frail.” She was definitely ill, but something about the stories the staff and the doctors were telling didn’t make sense.
The negligence became even worse when they did not share any information regarding her health to her son. She was in a steady decline health-wise and our client was not aware of the situation. They failed to alert him to the issue and continued to keep that information from him, even when he began questioning his mother’s death. Their refusal to involve him was clearly an act to disguise the negligence his mother suffered. We continued to ask questions - even forcing the issue to trial, resulting in a good and fair resolution for the son.
